My 19" Acer LCD that was about two years old went completely kaput so I used that as an opportunity to purchase this Viewsonic (this was for my office). I've been using a Viewsonic at home for about 5 years and have been totally satisfied with it, so that's why I chose the brand to replace the mediocre Acer. The new unit was very easy to set up - just plug it in, load the software and go. I had to turn down the brightness but other than that, everything is great. Colors are vibrant, text is clear and sharp, the picture needed no alignments or adjustments (other than my brightness preference), there were no dead pixels, the panel brightness/backlight is uniform throughout the entire display, and overall I am very pleased. It is way better than the Acer. While waiting for my new monitor I hooked up a spare Acer widescreen as a temporary substitute. This Viewsonic has much, much better picture and text. It's worth spending a little bit more for the extra quality. The controls on the panel are very easy to use. I have separate speakers so I can't comment on its audio quality. The only thing I am not crazy about is the silver lining around the black frame. It curves at the two sides on the bottom and also in the middle on the top and the first impression is that there is a dent in the monitor. But after I start using it, I am focused on the screen and I don't notice the frame anymore so I'm leaving my rating at 5 stars.
