Won't ever buy a Toshiba product again
Every single year since 2002 I have had to purchase a new one. Without this adapter my laptop won't work at all, so I have to have one. The price for a required piece of equipment it too high for something that has to be replaced year after year after year. If this is what Toshiba envisions for it's laptop users, then I will never buy a laptop from them again. As a comparison, I bought a Compaq laptop in 1998 & have never had to replace the adapter yet. I only bought the Toshiba because of the 17 inch screen.
Pros: can't use anything else - i.e. there are none

Toshiba A/C adapter
As a necessary componant for charging the battery or running the computer Toshiba needs to improve such a vital piece of the hardware. My laptop is on it's third one in three years from poor design - not abuse. Unfortunately I'm not sure you have any other option.
Pros: powers the computer
Cons: will not last 2 weeks beyond warranty

I could not get a 'real' charger for my computer, only one with changeable tips which always makes for a loose connection. The anufacturer could not even supply a 'real' charger for me.
