This is probably one of the better notebook coolers you can find for under $30. Its a solid plastic box with four fans- pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a notebook cooler. Its no the slimmest (which aids air movement), its not the quietest (because the fans actually spin!) but it fits my 14" laptop's 'footprint' and it keeps my legs cool to boot. Now, i will say that it doesn't make my computer super-cool, though the desktop temperature monitor seems to note a reasonable drop in temp- the laptop's internal fans will still kick in when I'm watching movies and such. This is more a remark about laptop coolers in general, but I noticed the amount of cooling you get from one of these things depends a lot on the design of your notebook/laptop. "flat bottom" books like Macbooks and some Dells seem to have issues because they have a completely flat underside that doesn't give any room for the fans to blow up into the computer. But mine has rubber feet that help the air circulation. So, just a heads up.

My husband ordered this to help keep his PS3 cool since our entertainment center is not very open. It works great! Because it runs from the USB connection on the PS3, it comes on when the PS3 comes on. The fan on the PS3 used to run almost non stop when it was on, now it rarely comes on. Maybe not the use it was intended for, but still works great.

With the newer laptops, (more memory and better displays) comes the problem of overheating. I spent a lot of time researching a laptop cooler. Decided on this one for size, amount of fans and the ability to adjust the fans speed. Using a program to monitor my CPU heat output, I turned on the unit and watched the results. For my laptop, there was a marked improvement in my CPU Temperature. Now I can get the full use of my computer without having it shut down! Pros: - Light weight - Low noise - Adjustable speed of fans - Travels well Cons: - Needed a minor adjustment on laptop placement
