I went to J&R with the thought of buying this off-the-shelf. But their sound wall with headphones changed my mind. I heard this one and I was almost immediately disappointed. They have a very rounded, muffled tone that lacks punch and crispness. The ONLY good thing about them is the big ear comfort. But then I ended up buying Sennheiser HD 218 after listening to many. They aren't big, but provide equal comfort. The sound is much better for just 10 extra dollars.

They sound good without going through all of the specs, but the best part is that you can wear them for hours without hurting your ears. I have had many headsets. Anywhere from 15 minutes to less than an hour, my ears hurt, and it becomes increasingly uncomfortable to wear them. I can wear these indefinitely without any discomfort. No they don't sound like a $200 variety, but I have paid over $100 and not had any better sound. I am ordering my 2nd set as a gift.

Look, it was hard for me to believe that some of the reviews on here were not true. I read a lot of the reviews raving about this product. But the truth is, you get what you paid for. Under each earphone, there's a switch to change between Movie-Music. It doesn't do a thing. Some people tried to defend it by saying you'll hear it if you have a great system, or whatever, but the truth is, it doesn't do anything. It was most likely a selling ploy. It sold me, in fact when I read about it the first thing I thought was "Maybe Sony has changed, maybe they will respect their low-end equipment" No, Sony hasn't changed. Their cheap stuff is cheap, their expensive stuff is great, hence OLED. Now if you want a decent pair of headphone, by all means get these, they do the job. Granted I should have went with the cheaper Philips or something like that. These headphone are big, they don't like pretty, so don't expect to WOO people when they come over. I didn't buy it to look good, I bought it to hook up to my computer or piano. For both it does the job, but I'm kind of a cheap audiophile so i'm disappointed that I can't really hear all the different instruments when i'm listening to music. However for the keyboard i'm using, it does just fine- masking the crap music I play as i'm learning. In the end, I really wish I had spent the money on a Sennheiser or something cheaper. You get what you pay for. I'm not too disappointed because it gives a long chord and it's better than my laptop speakers.
