The only problem with this remote is that it has that 'el-cheapo', numb, non-positive button feel that makes operating it less than a joy. This is par for the course now-a-days with your average remotes, and for people with exceptionally strong grips like myself, it usually results in the volume-up button getting worn out in about a year. Unless you are an extraordinarily cheap bastard, this shouldn't be a concern given the price; and as stated elsewhere, the functionality is definitely there in spades.

I like this remote... don't get me wrong... but it does need more button choices. For example, I'm using it with TiVo (there was NO PROGRAMMING CODE provided in the supplied list!)and was able to program it adequately, but the TiVo remote has buttons that do not easily translate to THIS remote. Ditto, my LiteOn DVR. It replaces more remotes than I have, so I'm not complaining about THOSE buttons (SAT, VCR, CD, DVD, etc.), just some more programmable buttons (like "clear", "edit", etc.) would have been great. It's easy to program the buttons that are there, and easy to use. I recommend it, but I also recommend that you first look closely at the availble buttons in the online pictures (I didn't, dammit!) and decide if it will suit you. I AM using it and it DOES beat the hell out of multiple remotes, so I'm basically satisfied. -Joe

We got a Sony Learning Remote ten(? maybe eleven) years ago that was featured at Disney World in the Epcot Innovations Area. We had just bought it when we went there and noticed the Disney Cast Member's remote. We actually stayed behind to see out of curiosity if it was the same one we had just gotten. We love the old remote and when we got yet another remote because of the converter box I had enough of all the remotes in our bedroom. Since we have odd brands that typically aren't in the remotes with codes I wanted another learning remote. I have never had a problem with programming either the old remote (10 yrs old) or this new one. I even got one for my in-laws and programmed it for them because I get so frustrated when we go over there and try to let the little kids watch a movie. They have even more remotes than we do and they have duplicates so they could each turn up/down the sound and change the channel. I LOVE THE ONE TOUCH MACROS!!!!! That has ALWAYS been my favorite part of the remote we have had for 10 years!
