I purchased this item for my mom (60 My general experience with this product tells me that it is not a good (not even decent) multimedia player. If that's your main purpose why you are looking into this item, just forget about it and do not buy. There are way better ones out there. This is not a cheap buy either considering how problematic it is. If your aim is to use it as a storage device, then it could be useful. I got mine in early February 2008 and I should say that I did not have a WORKING unit until the end of June. I have probably lost half of my brain cells due to horrible customer service. So here is my story: First problem that I encountered was the unit was not working as it should. Such as: 1.When playing mp3s, it plays very slow as if you are pushing pause button all the time. And even before the first song is finished, it freezes. 2.When playing slide show in picture more, it gets stuck again for no reason. And you have to reset/restart the device. 3.When having a slide show with background music, the music does not play and the unit freezes again. I contacted customer service. They replaced my "NEW but not properly working" unit with a REFIRBISHED, "supposedly working" unit. I had to pay for the shipping, too. Unfortunately, I had exactly the same problems that I had with my original purchase. Then, I called the customer service and the representative did not even try to troubleshoot my problem and he just accepted that the unit was not working properly. The guy even told me that some of these flashtrax out on the market are of bad quality. They do not know (!) which party is bad and why they are bad. This time I requested them to pay for the shipping. After couple phone conversations with different people (the manager, the worker...) I was able to get a positive answer to my request and the next day I got an email saying that my call tag was issued. No one showed up to pick up the package. I contacted them via email and they said they will arrange another pick up. No one again. I emailed them again and they realized they gave wrong address to the carrier. Over a month of calling and sending several emails to them finally I could ship it back. They have a very very poor customer service. When you call them you have to be prepared for waiting at least 20 min. One time (believe it or not) it was over an hour. That annoying voice from automated system tells you "we know your time is valuable and we appreciate your patience. You can choose to leave a message now for your convenience or stay on the line and someone will be with you shortly..." Sometimes they do not clean their voice mail and you cannot leave a message! Sometimes you do not get this automated message and are directly forwarded to the voicemail. Things about this device that I do not like but can live with: 1.The whole software interface is not user friendly at all. I still have issues to understand how to menage playlists, files, etc. 2.The navigation is very cumbersome. You have to push the same buttons over and over again. There is no direct button to return to the main menu. There is a useless step you have to go through every time although you are not using CF card. To summarize: Push the buttons gazillion times and you'll get where you want, eventually... I am so tired of this product that I did not even try to put any video files in it. So I don't have an experience with that aspect. Well, overall, I think it is obvious that I hate this product. I strongly discourage you to buy another device, just mostly for your mental health... If I had a working unit to begin with, I would still not like it. I wouldn't even pay $100...

I just received this product in the mail and am immensely dissappointed. It feels very cheap in my hands, and the software is incredibly old (2003 is latest update). I tried it out anyways, and put pictures from my card onto the device--it put the pictures in files in no apparent order, and the file names were 10-digit numbers, which were then divided into more files, and the names of these also were randomly assigned. Yes, confusing. There is no way to rename the files, so if I take this on my three-week vacation, I will have 20+ file names with absolutely no clue which pictures are in which files. I am very computer-savy and could not figure out how to update the software. The latest possible update by the way, is from 2003. There are no new updates. I contacted the manufacturer to get help, and they said there is no help available on that product--I have to look on the website (which is not helpful). I am so disappointed in this product. I was not looking for anything fancy..just something to store my pictures in on my vacation and keep them organized. I cannot deal with having 1000+ pictures to organize when I get back from my trip. Ridiculous.

I got this unit because I am an IPod hater & the other units such as the Zune are WAY overpriced. I am EXTREMELY pleased with this thing! I personally don't have any use for a CF card at all, just need a portable player. My favorite feature on this is you can plug it into any DVD player & record straight onto the hard drive while the movie is playing. This is something I have not seen ANY other player do ever. The only other feature I could ask for is more format compatibility when it comes to videos, but hey, ya can't have it all I guess. Great buy! Best player I have ever had!
