Unless you enjoy playing with junk, that is. The one-star reviews are completely accurate...setting the time/alarm is disgusting, and takes forever for the numbers to finally switch faster; the entire interface is completely unintuitive; the only good part about the nature sounds is the ability to lower their volumes; horrible positioning of the snooze bar (sometimes I turn off the alarm instead of snoozing...bad...); orange screen light is too bright on darkest setting. Just buy something else.

Had this alarm clock for about a year. I have noticed that it changes your pre-set alarm station to a new station randomly. For example, set it to wake on station 96.3 and the next morning it will wake to 95.5. If you are unlucky it will switch to static. I could deal with retuning the clock back to the old station, but now that the buttons are starting to stick (flimsy design) I am getting rid of it.

What a waste of money. No manual came with the radio. Called the "helpline." Told me to go to internet. Internet page said to call the helpline. Really? Couldn't find my model number. T308S so used T307S (looked the same) and realize I should have checked the reviews before I bought this thing. Nothing intuitive, doesn't even pick up any stations. Back to Radioshack I go. I'll revise my loyalty to anything Timex. Looks good. Doesn't work. Terrible service.

I bought this clock because of the line in jack for my mp3 player. Well, that works fine but the clock doesn't. After about 3 months of use, the screen went dark and I can no longer read the time unless I am 1 inch from the clock. I thought maybe I had a faulty one, but after searching the net, I found many other complaints about the same problem. Poorly made product. Not worth the money if you want a lasting product.

The biggest problem with this alarm clock is that you can't read the display unless your are standing nearby and looking down at it. This is due to the angle of the front of the alarm clock and the fact that the display has the ability to change colors. The fact that it can change colors is neat, but rather impractical if you can't read the time from across the room.

this clock has functioned fine for me, i bought it at a local store and felt like it deserved a decent review, the buzzer is quiet, but buzzers never wake me up anyways. I recommend if you're a deep sleeper use a radio at max volume, the aux input makes this thing a steal at 19.99!

I'm a very frugal shopper and been taking my time looking for a couple of years to find an alarm clock I really like. I've been oogling over those wide sleek alarm clocks out in the market but I just don't have the surface space on my side table next to my bed for any of those. This Timex alarm isn't as mod stylish as those wide low ones, but it has the smallest footprint for what it can offer. Feature wise it completely surpassed any expectations I had. Beyond the alarm and ipod compatibility, it's practically designed. Love where the buzzer is located on the bottom away from anything else you could accidentally fumble and accidently push and that it doubles as a dimmer. Several of the buttons have multiple purposes but it's not confusing. And the sound quality's pretty good for an alarm clock.

I bought this clock 11 months ago to be able to see the time when I wake up without my glasses. RED numbers, which this clock has, are the best to see with poor vision; blue or green LED's fade out. The 1.5" high numbers are just right to be able to still see without glasses, (but not overpowering like the gigantic 2" or 3" high numbers on some other clocks that take over the whole room). The 1.5" numbers on this particular clock are for medium-low vision and people who need glasses. This clock is perfect for me... there are very few well-designed alarm clocks. The small yellow glow of the snooze bar doesn't bother me at all; you don't even see it when your eyes are closed to sleep. All I want is a medium-large RED colored number display with an alarm buzzer, not too big a casing and available in a white or silver for the bedroom, and black for the TV room...(but black is not available). I had a hard time finding a model with these simple criteria...this was the only one, and I'm buying 2 more today, one for the TV room, and one for my mom.

This could've been a decent design, but as usual screwy "features" ruin it. The buttons are generally in sensible places and not a complete disaster like the Timex T307S. So far so good. But.. the radio tuning knob is so stiff that first you have to stabilize the clock with one hand while tuning the insensitive dial with the other. Try doing that from your bed. It's a real treat. And Timex has decided that YOU ARE NOT TURNING OFF THE SNOOZE BAR!!! which lights up. You know when people need a snooze bar? In the half hour near the time they wake up in the morning! Not in the 8 hours they're sleeping!!! Isn't that a zany concept? Light it up when it's needed. The LED numbers are so bright on either of the 2 settings, that the options should be labeled: "Compete with the Vegas strip!" or (on the brighter setting) "Signal the Mother Ship in the Next Galaxy!" In other words, whatever you've done to darken your bedroom is reversed by this clock. Uh... thanks for that, Timex!? The problem would have been easily remedied with a dim setting, but the difference between the two options they offer is negligible. The muffled speaker is on the back face which means to hear the radio you have to turn it up 50 percent higher than you actually need to and bounce the sound off a wall. There is no way to listen to the radio quietly. Timex, why do you think a shapely case is all there is to design? Why do you burden your users with dumb assumptions about how the radio will sit on a night table? ...junky controls? Design is performative! This is what you do for a living; you're supposed to be experts at it. Have you never used an alarm clock? I'm 0 for 2 on Timex alarm clocks in the past few months. This one's going back to the store too. For a laugh, type "alarm clock" into the search tool and look at the sheer number of one and two star duds you get to select from; all types, all price-points. Something like 40 pages of alarm clocks people hate. ha ha ha. The state of alarm clock design is tragic!

I purchased this clock radio about 11 months ago and everything seemed to be working fine until last month. All of a sudden the numbers that are located in the bottom right corner of the screen started disappearing. Most of the time those numbers show the date, but what's annoying is that those are also the numbers used to set the alarm. So setting the alarm has been challenging and stressful since I can't tell what time I'm setting it for -- I can see the hour I'm setting it for, but the minutes are almost impossible to see. I haven't done anything strange to this clock -- I've taken very good care of it (I've barely even touched it, except to set the alarm). This problem literally happened overnight. Just all of a sudden the numbers disappeared. So I don't know if I got a lemon or if any of the other clocks have behaved this way... I'm hoping the rest of the display doesn't fade and completely disappear. I've tried changing the batteries (which didn't help). Overall, I like the design and the remote control -- I'm just very disappointed that the numbers have started disappearing -- it's not functional anymore. Based on its performance, I would not purchase this again.

It's about time some one released an mp3 alarm clock that's not dependent on the iPod! There are many good looking and great sounding alarm clocks out there created for iPods -- this is not one of them. It has no special dock for iPod. It does have an audio Line IN port though. Who is this meant for? And why is it better? First, there are people that don't have iPods out there, who will appreciate ability to wake up to your own mp3 sounds or music. The reason I was looking for a non-iPod mp3 alarm clock is not because I don't have an iPod but because I don't want to mix my music and alarm clock. What if a song that starts playing is too quiet or corrupt? I need reliability when it comes to waking up. What I want to do is copy a few songs or sounds onto the thumb drive put it into this unit and pretty much forget about it.. maybe I'll get tired of those eventually and then I would put new ones, although of course you can fit a lot of music on an SD card or a usb flash drive. You can select a particular mp3 that you want to wake up to. One reviewer said that an mp3 can lock up the alarm. I suspect this is due to a bad mp3 file that he used. This hasn't happened to me. But I always select the mp3 song that I want to wake up to, and not leave it to random, potentially bad mp3. So I know for sure if it works when I'm selecting it (Timex made it such that it has to play for you to select it). A bad mp3 can lock up any player. Remote is great. It has a wide beam as I can "snooze" it from another room by pointing at the ceiling. The clock backlight has several levels, from bright to completely off. When in off, it still shows time but you'll need light to see it (like digital wristwatches). Sound quality: It has one speaker. You can not have great sound from one speaker, simply because it's mono. But if you have one cheap speaker, the quality will suffer and will sound harsh. This unit has one nice speaker, so it makes it very pleasant to wake up to the music that has good clarity and smooth sound. When the alarm goes off, the mp3 music gradually fades in until it reaches the set volume. My previous alarm clock just fired up the "ocean waves" sound at the set volume (and I had to look in the manual to figure out what the heck that sound was) Weakness: This one is present in majority of alarm clocks I've used. The time setting feature. You have a + and a - button, no hour/min switch, not even an AM/PM switch. If it's 2:00 and you want it to be 3:00 you'll need to cycle through 2:01, 2:02, 2:03... when you hold the button for about a second it goes quicker (on my old Timex alarm you had to hold it for like 5 seconds, so guess it's an improvement) I only need to use alarm to wake up to work so usually if I do need to change alarm time it's within an hour or so. If I need to set an alarm for something less important I usually just use my iPhone (which has the best method of setting time/alarm ever) This is a big weakness, but I'm not taking a star off for this, because well, "everybody's doing it". More nice features: The picture doesn't have it, but if you use the usb flash drive and lower it into the hole there's actually a removable cover that comes with this alarm clock and it completely covers the hole that you see on the picture. A+ on aesthetics in general. I read somewhere that this unit looks cheap on close inspection, this is not true. It looks very nice from afar or close up. The sides are silver color but they blend in nicely with the rest of the unit. Snooze button on the top does not stick out like on most alarm clocks, but blends in with the rest of the design. This is one well shaped solid unit. You can put it in most places and it won't ruin the view. It's like some one at Timex decided to actually hire a designer this time. (Just type in "alarm clock" into any search engine to see some ugly beasts... uhh, 99%?) Bottom line: At this time I'm not aware of any other non-iPod alarm clock that can play mp3 files other than this. But other than being unique, it is very well designed, visually pleasing, and very nice sounding alarm clock. In other words, it's everything I wanted in an alarm clock so I'm glad I bought it.

Nice looking unit, is only positive feature this radio had. I must of gotten a lemon. It could not pull in my favorite 50K Watt AM radio station, all the other stations had a huge amount of static. The FM band was the same. The MP3 player would not play music that I had legally downloaded from the net. It would play music that I had ripped from CD's. It had all the features I was looking for. It just didn't work. I had no problem returning it from the store I had bought it from.

Got this because of some good reviews, mainly because it seemed to have an easy to use interface. The basic problems seem to stem from the location of many of the controls on the front panel which is a CD door that opens and closes. In only a few weeks of use, and not using CD or MP3 player, it just stopped working. All of the controls either stopped responding or began to operate other functions in a chaotic way. Became impossible to read time, set alarm, play radio, or turn off "nap" setting timer. Over all, probably a design flaw that places sensitive controls in an unstable, risky location on the device.

I bought this as a gift. I found having nature sounds, am/fm, alarm, cd player, and mp3 compatible appealing. We've had this radio since December 2007. I was concerned this week because the cd player stopped working. It had worked until recently. The cd would spin, but no sound. I tapped the alarm on both sides and it plays again. I will keep you posted if issues occur again with the cd player. I still highly recommend it.

I placed my order on Monday and Wednesday went to sleep knowing I'd wake up on time. The turnaround time was terrific. I agree with other reviewers that the nature sounds are disappointing. I settled on the chimes (choice #3), though I wonder if the methodical traffic on my busy street might be as easy to adjust to. I prefer ocean sounds to nod off to, but being a beach lover, I know that all living things sleep. So why are the soothing sounds of ocean waves punctuated by screeching gulls (choice #1)? I don't find the mating calls of frogs in a rain forest (choice #2 conducive to relaxation either. There's a time and place for everything and I wish the frogs had a curfew. I also don't quite get the bright night light coming on when you select sleep. If you need to get up during the night and need a light, if the sleep timer has run down, the light will have turned off. I'd rather turn on my 99 cent night light if I need it and be able to see the time on a modestly lit display than have to turn the clock to the wall to avoid the annoying bright blue glow. On the bright side (no pun intended), the radio is lots easier to set than its older version and the sound quality is what you'd expect for the price.
