Pleasently suprised at the quality of this item. Speakers are out front so the sound is better than others I have tried. Would like it a little more streamlined or thinner but it still looks good under the cabinet.

Having been loyal to Sony products in the past I decided to take the plunge and spend a bit more than I intended to on a radio for my kitchen. However, when I installed the device I realized that the lack of an antena and the inability to move the radio in order to get better reception basically made it useless...it was like a white noise generator. No dice. I think that this would have been far more successful if the radio was installed closer to a window (I'm not sure). I do not recommend this product.

After looking around I realized that I couldn't find anything thiner that was afordable, looked and was made by a company like Sony. The first one I bought developed a problem with the CD player after 3 or 4 years. I bought another one and loved the fact that the holes in the cabinet still matched. My son fixed the first one and I now use it at our vacation house.

Sony ICF-CDK70 Under Cabinet Kitchen Clock Radio with CD-Changer I am very pleased with the performance of this radio/CD player. The sound and all features are great.

I read the reviews after buying the radio and before installation. It was easy to install with 2 people. I read that it should not be near appliances, but we mounted it above the microwave next to the double oven and the reception is great. I like the fact it can be connected to an external play source, either an MP3 or an IPOD. The only drawback that we have found is that we are unable to connect it to external speakers and there is no back up battery. Right price and right sound. Works for us!

For under $100 you can't go wrong..After all, it is a Sony, and it can play 3 CD's. It is also a very good looking unit. The FM reception is really great, and I esp like that the antenna is built into the power cord. Not sure how good the AM reception is yet, though that doesn't mean a whole lot to me anyway....The fact that the antennas are built in is especially helpful, because once you mount this under your cabinets, you obviously can't move it around to get better reception. If unplugged, you do lose your radio presets which is not a great inconvenience unless you have a power outage; battery backup would be nice, which I don't think it has. Our kitchen is somewhat removed from the main living area, and I wanted to be able to play music or listen to the news there..nice that it has a 3 CD changer!! I am not technologically inclined so I don't really care about the lack of MP3-CD capability. But, for those who want to, there is the option of hooking an MP3 player up to this unit and even a slot on the side to place it. The stereo sound is considerably good for a radio this size; speakers are aimed toward the front and the sides for better quality. Overall I would recommend this to a friend.

Got this because of some good reviews, mainly because it seemed to have an easy to use interface. The basic problems seem to stem from the location of many of the controls on the front panel which is a CD door that opens and closes. In only a few weeks of use, and not using CD or MP3 player, it just stopped working. All of the controls either stopped responding or began to operate other functions in a chaotic way. Became impossible to read time, set alarm, play radio, or turn off "nap" setting timer. Over all, probably a design flaw that places sensitive controls in an unstable, risky location on the device.

I bought this as a gift. I found having nature sounds, am/fm, alarm, cd player, and mp3 compatible appealing. We've had this radio since December 2007. I was concerned this week because the cd player stopped working. It had worked until recently. The cd would spin, but no sound. I tapped the alarm on both sides and it plays again. I will keep you posted if issues occur again with the cd player. I still highly recommend it.

I placed my order on Monday and Wednesday went to sleep knowing I'd wake up on time. The turnaround time was terrific. I agree with other reviewers that the nature sounds are disappointing. I settled on the chimes (choice #3), though I wonder if the methodical traffic on my busy street might be as easy to adjust to. I prefer ocean sounds to nod off to, but being a beach lover, I know that all living things sleep. So why are the soothing sounds of ocean waves punctuated by screeching gulls (choice #1)? I don't find the mating calls of frogs in a rain forest (choice #2 conducive to relaxation either. There's a time and place for everything and I wish the frogs had a curfew. I also don't quite get the bright night light coming on when you select sleep. If you need to get up during the night and need a light, if the sleep timer has run down, the light will have turned off. I'd rather turn on my 99 cent night light if I need it and be able to see the time on a modestly lit display than have to turn the clock to the wall to avoid the annoying bright blue glow. On the bright side (no pun intended), the radio is lots easier to set than its older version and the sound quality is what you'd expect for the price.

Gift for my youngest granddaughter. This is a funky, cute player and she listens to it as she goes to sleep at night.

Received this as a gift. I agree that it is overly large for your average nightstand and the display is incredibly bright, even on its dimmest setting. As with most clock radios sporting "nature sounds", these tend to be repetitive and distorted to the point that they don't sound "natural" at all. The exception are the wind chimes, which are actually very pleasant to wake up to. On the plus side, you have a variety of alarm modes (CD, radio, nature sounds), two separate alarms, sleep timer, and an aux input for an MP3 player, all of which have worked just fine for me. Bottom line: it does what I need it to do.

I loved it when I bought it, but the CD player stopped working within the first year. From the other reviews, I see I'm not the only one who had this problem. I paid $60 for it from Bed Bath and Beyond, thinking the quality would match the price. Not so. Don't waste your money.
