I have used a set of these for about 4 years and they have performed well except for fragile battery clips. One of these failed during a shoot forcing recourse to camcorder microphone--bummer. . I replaced these clips with better ones. I just bought a second unit to allow use of two wireless mikes. Have already replaced both battery clips to prevent a repeat of earlier problem.

I just purchased the Pro88w for my new Sony SR11 camcorder. We've tested it out and it works very well. I found it to be both affordable in price and excellent in quality. On both A and B frequencies, the audio came in very clear without any problems, so long as you were not extensively far away. The audio is excellent when the receiver and transmitter are in their proper range. When the transmitter is too far away from the receiver, there was a lot of static noise, even though the audio was still coming through. The audio was still being transmitted, but the static noise was getting louder and louder the further away I went. It was just too far away. (When it is being transmitted long distance, the audio was still coming through, but it come through with static noise. I wonder if there is an editing program that could edit out the static noise but keep the audio.) My wife was concerned a bit because she was listening to the audio through the ear piece that is plugged into the receiver. She heard a constant noise (you know, the type of audio wave noise which is always in the airwaves). She was worried that the camera was recording that noise. But when we played the video through our TV, it didn't play any of that noise (except for the shots we took when the transmitted was too far away). So the ear piece that goes to the receiver is simply "sensitive" and "loud", much more sensitive and louder then what is actually being recorded. Anyways, all that to simply say that it records great audio in it's proper range. I look forward to taking great video shots with my new camera and being able to pick up great audio with my new lapel mic.
