I work as a Court Reporter and use this handy little recorder as a backup. It is especially handy when I have to move to chambers. I move my main unit and then throw this on the desk as a backup. It is compatible with my transcription software and I love it. I also use it to record church council meetings - as the secretary, I have to type up the minutes. The voice quality is excellent and it will pick up from an amazing distance for the size and without any external mic added to it.

I got this after much review of the various voice recorders I could find. This seemed to be the best and, from what I used it for so far, it has worked great. I picked it since I had 2GB memory (best I could find), 5 different folders, decent battery life, direct usb connect, records WMA, plays WMA and MP3 on its music mode, and ahs a nice backlight screen. Once you read how to use the different settings, it is pretty easy to navigate with nice menus and folders. I haven't full tested out range or such, but it got lot of settings which should let you record close or at long range or such. The only bad part I have found was the battery goes in the part the detaches for usb connection, which wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't hard to get back on. May be something you get better with in time or mine could be a little off normal fit, not sure. There are also lot of accessories for it, but they are for pretty much any voice recorder and amazon seems to have them cheaper then the Olympus shop. To sum it up, it's a great small voice recorders with lot of memory, can play music, has folders, nice menus and such. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a voice recorder.
