I purchased mine about a year ago; it has been pretty good, but extremely slow. I've been using mine as a network backup for my web server and music server. It keeps up with this task, but just barely. I have tried using this formated with Fat32, NTFS, HFS+ and XFS. All file systems are slow on this device. It is reliable however so it keeps its three starts. When it is NTFS and I do a defrag it takes all night at least; some times longer. I've tried it on several computers (from Apple to Linux and even Winblows XP/Vista) and they are all very slow to write to this device.

Exactly as I expected. My son has several Western Digital hard rives and recommended them. I needed a simple backup drive for my computers and this is great.

I enjoy my external hard drive very much. It has saved a lot of space on my computer's hard drive. It arrived in almost brand new condition.
