Overall it is a nice mouse, pretty responsive and works on most surfaces without problems. However I do feel Microsoft mouse quality is going down compared to its earlier models. First of all, right out of package, there is a small but obvious black spot and dent on right mouse button. I am pretty sure it is not due to shipping since there is no damage whatsoever on the packaging. Amazon is pretty good to offer a discount on the defect. I hope Microsoft does a better quality control work since the defect is so visible. Secondly, the mouse buttons feel a little flimsy, they fudge upon slight touch - this is not a good solid feeling you would expect from a good mouse. Lastly, I hope the USB receiver does not flash upon any mouse action. It is a bit annoying and distracting. I have to put the receiver at the back of laptop to avoid noticing it constantly.

First of all I read a review and the person said this mouse would not stay connected past one foot not true. I had my laptop all the way across the room and it worked fine. I really enjoy the simplicity of this mouse and the 2.4 ghz jump drive is great I had high hopes for this mouse and it has surpassed my expectations. For twenty seven bucks not to mention free shipping with prime ur not going to find a better mouse out there for the money. Over the years I used Logitech and they are ok but this Microsoft mouse has everything I was looking for, I will be using it not only on my laptop but I will also install the software on my desktop and simply plug the jump drive in when I want to use it. I do have to tell u one thing both of my systems run Windows so this review is for the mouse working on Windows based systems if u got a Mac ur on ur own lol. The only drawback I see is that the battery will have to be replaced numerous times over this mouse's lifetime but thats wat u get into buying a wireless mouse peace out : )

When using Quicken, it only scrolls in one direction! Not good. This guy might be going back to the store.
