As a charter member of the Digital Data StorageGroup (DDS), Maxells 4mm data cartridgesfeature the Media Recognition System (MRS),which allows the drive systemto detect the presenceof data grade tape. Maxell uses only the finest quality magnetic mediato meet the strictest specifications for a minimaldropout rate. Maxell then processes this media ina Class 10 clean room where it is certified for datarecording purposes. Patented Ceramic Coated Metal ParticleTo protect the fine metal particles in the magneticlayer of the tape, Maxell invented the ceramic coatingprocess. Maxells ceramic coating acts as a protectivearmor against heat, humidity and eventualoxidation. The result is a tape durable enough towithstand at least 2,000 passes with an archival lifeof up to 30 years. All Maxell 4mm data cartridges feature Maxellsunique Safe-T-Lock, a hub-locking mechanism thatensures proper tape tension and prevents misthreadingduring the initial loading stage.
