I've tried the EM-U and this M-Audio Uno (twice) and they've both failed over and over again. They work for a while (about a year or so) and then suddenly stop working. The warranty is only for a year so that makes it an expensive investment. Not recommended.

When I realized my casio privia had no usb connectivity, I decided to buy this product. When I received my product, it didn't work. Instead of sending notes to the keyboard, it sent pitch bend and other random commands. I returned this to amazon and got a full refund. I then bought a usb midi interface from Hottest Deals Ever, and that one didn't work at all whatsoever. So I began to do research on midi-usb cables. It quickly found out that there was a bad batch of M-Audio cables that hit the stores at around the same time I bought mine. Their website shows how to find out if you have a defective unit. I purchased a new unit and made sure the serial number didn't match the bad batch. I took it home, installed drivers, connected my casio privia, and this worked just fine. This cable is also very low latency. I can get my latency under 4ms with this cable (the human ear can only detect a latency if it's at least about 10ms). According to the website, the defective units have serial numbers between 31805709001 and 45805704080, with the third digit always being "8" in the defective units. If you go to the store to buy one of these, check the SN before you buy. If you buy online or already have one and it's not working, check the SN. If it's within this range, return it and get a new one. If not, then buy a different brand.
