I've had this mouse since mid-June and in that time I was expecting to have to change the batteries once or twice. I say expected because I haven't had to do so. The mouse itself functions very nicely and is quite programmable. This mouse is laid out very well I can reach all the buttons with no trouble. I use my computer for extended periods of time and this mouse is comfortable. Moving the cursor is smooth and precise with no jumping to place or stuttering. The rubberizing on the black surfaces of the body and right click is a nice touch but it isn't held down well and has frayed at the edges. Most notably in the left click, forward/backward button area. It doesn't seem to leave a sticky residue so if it peels all the way off it shouldn't be much of a concern. Also, the Set Point software that allows you to remap the keys will not allow you to program another button to act as the right click button. I came off of using a MS Trackball Explorer 1.0 to this mouse after the MSTE broke after many years of diligent service. This mouse is an excellent alternative. In fact I think so highly of this mouse that had this one been around during the time the MSTE was on the market, I would've had a very tough time deciding between the two.

Someone suggested I try a trackball since I have carpel tunnel. I have a hard time controlling it, even after several weeks of use. But the worst part is I don't really find it any less stressful on my wrist. Maybe I was supposed to get a trackball with the ball on the side instead of the top.

They just seem to 'die' on me. It's really rather frustrating which is the only reason I"m writing this because I'm so mad right now. My second one just stopped responding and every 5 minutes I have to reestablish the connection between the mouse and the wireless unit. Like really, this is pathetic. I'm running a IO Gear KVM switch using 2 Macs (mind you I did have another IO Gear KVM completely die on me). Anyway I plugged in my bulky Kensington Expert Mouse (wired) and it works no problem. So 2 things, 1. This must be a flaw with Logitech Wireless Trackballs on Macs using KVM switches 2. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LOGITECH WIRELESS MOUSE. For the record, it kills me to complain about this mouse, I loved it and now I will have to find something wired that's in its calibre.
