I am on my second Logitech headset. My first one lasted me about 8 months before the thin line between the headset and the volume control broke (internally). That is why I do not give this 5 stars. To be fair, I use my headset quite a bit for SKYPE telephone calls. Speaking of SKYPE, this model works well for SKYPE in my opinion. I have never had any complaints from people about my audio. In fact, many have said they thought I was on a regular phone. It is comfortable on the head and the ear phones block out background noise in the house, making it VERY EASY to hear the person I am calling. I purchased my second Logitech (same model) 5 months ago because of the AUDIO clarity I had with the first one. This second set is just as clear. Only time will tell about the cord. As far as the USB connection, it was well built. I use a 15' USB extension so I am not glued to the computer during phone calls and the USB was seamless in connecting with an aftermarket extension.

I couldn't change the rating number, but now I'd rate the set, etc, **** I have 10 months' left on my warranty on this headset/mic. I have used them for gaming and net phone calls with excellent results for the past year and four months. About a week ago, the covering on the ear pads started to deteriorate. Today I tried to remove them as the first step to replacement or just tidying them up and putting them back on. ABSOLUTE TOTAL FAILURE!!!! The pads are similar to others, in that the pads have a stretch material which is affixed behind the speakers. However, as I examined it and began to try to pull off the first pad, I noticed that not only was the stretch material holding the pad to the speaker, the plastic fittings on the base of the earpiece, which hold the swivel speaker in place, were somehow PUSHED THROUGH the stretch material, making the ear pads impossible to remove without unsnapping the speakers from the base. This did, in fact, occur, but happened so suddenly that the two fine speaker wires both separated from their respective speakers. Hopeless, right? Not quite yet. I resoldered the wires, but could not reattach the speakers to the bases as there was no way to reconnect THROUGH THE MATERIAL because you couldn't see the connection holes with the stretch material in place over the speakers. Many attempts resulted in more detached wires, resoldering, etc, etc, etc. I finally got the whole thing together, holding the speakers/pads/base together with my hands. I plugged it in. NADA!!! Probably got the wires crossed, but no matter since the phones would no longer hold together. Tried to email Logitech re the warranty, but the site refused to accept the email unless the value of the headset was included. Unfortunately for me, THERE WAS NO LINE ON THE FORM IN WHICH TO INPUT ANY VALUE!! Sometimes this is called a "Catch 22" situation, but it seems to me that Logitech just doesn't want any email from its customers. I looked at the phone numbers (all toll calls) which I could make for one cent a minute (Yahoo Messenger) IF MY HEADPHONES WEREN'T BROKEN!!! aaarrrrghhhh! I'm going to call Logitech Sales tomorrow (800 number), and see if the rep can help me out. If I continue chasing my tail, I'm writing to Logitech USA and the CEO at Logitech headquarters in France with ear-burners. Worn out earpads should not mean the death of a headset. ADDENDUM, 8/11/09: I called the 800 sales number this morning. I spoke with Donna, who advised me that the earpads on this headset "are not listed as a replaceable item", which matched my conclusion after my damaging attempt to remove the pads. I asked her if she could put me in touch with the warranty section, and she gave me two phone numbers, one a toll number and one an 800 number. 8-D I called the 800 number and spoke to a nice guy, and after some discussion, he agreed that Logitech would replace the entire set with a brand new one!!!! OK, success. I hope you all have as much good luck as I did. Before I write the number, let me tell you a little more. As was thrashing through the Logitech stuff, I came across the Logitech customer forum discussing the lack of toll free numbers, etc. One poster advised that he just calls 1-800- 936-0033 (same number Donna gave me) for all his Logitech needs. Then a Logitech supervisor or something posted that that 800 number should not be used because "the phone lines would become jammed" and if everyone used that phone number, "Logitech might have to raise its prices"....WHAT?? What a crock! HERE IS THE TOLL FREE PHONE NUMBER FOR ALL THINGS LOGITECH: 1-800-936-0033 1-800-936-0033 1-800-936-0033 1-800-936-0033

I was really hesitant about purchasing this set. I've had bad sets in the past that either had horrible output or horrible input. I'm to the point where I can't even sit at my computer now without reaching for this set. The sound is so rich, better than any headset I've ever owned, and I've never had a problem with people hearing me through the mic. I've had my set for a year, and the ONLY reason I'm getting a new pair is because the cord is starting to short a bit--not much tho. Then again, to Logitech's defense, I've put this set through a lot. I wear them every day. I've fallen asleep in them, tangled them, dropped them. Still, they work just fine. But I would hate to wake up one day and find they've completely died on me, so I'm getting a backup set. At this rate, I'm guessing I could get at least 18 months to 2 years of awesome use out of something I abuse on a daily basis. They're comfortable, too, and easy to adjust. The volume button on the cord is an absolute LIFESAVER. (Note, this may not happen to everyone, but the set's volume functionality will cease to work from time to time. I tried disconnecting/reconnecting the set, but have come to find that only a computer reboot will work. To me, it's a tiny problem overall compared with the great quality of the set and it's easy to fix. This does not in any way interfere with my computer's volume functionality, however. So in all, it's just a matter of convenience. When the set's functionality goes out, I only whine because I'm so used to adjusting volume on the cord instead of directly on the computer. MINOR MINOR glitch.) For the price, I don't think I could ever buy another brand. The set's worth every penny.
