I bought this phone recently. The base unit and 1 extension are in my downstairs, and the 3rd extension is upstairs. Reception is excellent. The sound is maybe a little tinny, but not to the point where it is annoying at all. Conversations are clear. I don't use the answering machine feature at all, since I have Verizon voice mail. The menus made it easy to set the options up. The talking caller ID is kind of neat. It's also convenient to be able to enter a phone number in the phone book on one extension, and then it's available on all (maybe all phones have this feature, this is the first cordless phone system I've had). No complaints here, I highly recommend this phone system.

Purchased this phone set several weeks ago to replace a more expensive V-tech system which never worked properly and was plagued with defects (the V-tech system had received very good ratings though). The Panasonic system is user friendly and does what it is supposed to do and works right out of the box. I must agree that the audio caller ID is amusing as the mechanical voice tries to pronounce various names and companies calling; same effect as a GPS unit with silly sounding interpretations of street names. But it is nice, especially at night, to hear the little voice tell you who is calling--especially with two teenage drivers in the family. I can't comment on some of the deficiencis detailed in other reviews since I am not so technically rarified to know the difference. However, for a good quality phone system at a reasonable price, we have been very satisfied with the Panasonic system.

I love all the features listed by previous reviewers. My only complaints are 1 - the phone is physically hard to hold against my ear, it doesn't fit well. 2 - the quality of the answering machine message playback is absolutely terrible!! I can barely understand some of the messages that we get. The sound is fuzzy and muffled.
