Not only did my first pair of these last for years, but to this day these are the only in ear buds I've used that stay put no matter what I'm doing (I've tried Sony and Skull Candy). Besides commuting to work, I wear these while working out, jogging in the park, etc. I am buying a new pair only because I've accidentally put mine through the washer a few too many times and the sound in one ear is damaged. I mistakenly purchased a set of the "marshmellow" buds made by JVC but they regularly fall out of my ears particularly if I'm sweating. These have the best design I've come across by far. As for sound quality, I find them to be perfect for my uses. When I need true sonic fidelity I stick to the speakers in my living room.

I purchased these earphones in London before a short trip as I was in a rush and really needed something for the iPod. I would have avoided earphones with 'rubber bits to lose' but I couldn't find any decent ones without. The earphones are ok, no great shakes, but eventually the inevitable happened and I lost one of the rubber parts that fit my ear. Now, the earphones come with 3 different sized 'rubber bits' and the manual does state that you need the correct size for your ear in order to achieve the best sound quality. So, I figured that replacements must be available somwhere or the headphones become a little 'useless'. After contacting JVC, I did manage to find genuine spares [...] Simply put, if you never lose one of the 'rubber bits' then the earphones are an ok purchase. But if you do lose one, the economics of replacement just dont stack up. Be warned, avoid this product if you can. (hth)

I didn't want to drop a fortune on a set of headphones for the gym to replace the Sony ones I have that the wires are starting to come out of. After reading endless reviews I settled on these and I am not disappointed. The sound quality is very good. However, to get them to get a full range of sound you really have to experiment with the different ear pieces to get a good seal. The good thing is they come with three sizes of silicone plugs and one size of memory foam plugs. I ended up using different sizes for each ear to get the best sound. The build quality seems sturdy, at least sturdier than the Sony pair I am replacing. It also comes with a functional carrying case. A nice feature JVC included is a slide where the cord separates to go to the left and right headphones. After you put on the headphones, you can slide up the slide device closer to your chin and it seems to cut down on the noise created by the wires bouncing around when exercising. The cord length is long enough to reach into shorts pockets. The headphones are light and comfortable but I am not sure how much of that is due to the "air cushion" design. For the sub twenty range, these are solid performers.
