After seeing mixed reviews, I purchased the Ion Tape 2pc hoping it would produce like the five star ratings I read, not the many one star ratings. Unfortunately, it is a very cheap tape deck. I tried eight different tapes, and they were all playing too fast. I adjusted the gain correctly, set my pc for stereo input and did everything in the instructions. I then tried all tapes on two different cassette decks I have at home, and they worked great. Maybe some Ion units that ship work fine, but why play roulette. I had to fish the packaging out of the trash and send it back to Amazon. What a piece of junk! Buyer beware.

Ok, I was looking with a minimal interest in buying one of these. But after reading the reviews I remembered how I recorded tapes to my old Mac Performa... A Y cord and my regular tape deck. I still have a couple of the recordings I made with the bare bones recording app in the old OS 9 software that you just clicked Rec. and Stop. It recorded my taped music to digital aiff format. I'm not sure if most PC's come standard with the capability to that ? I think it depends on a sound card? So there's truly no reason for this or any other USB conversion hardware. Even your old turntables work with a similar hook up !!! These seem to pray on peoples ignorance and the hyper consumer mentality that we have here, Isn't that what Amazons all about ? Don't get me wrong I love Amazon ! but in this case and many many others this is a totally unnecessary gimmick. Go to your local pawnshop or check for local stores that refurbish audio equipment and pick up a GOOD Tape deck, turntable etc. you'll save yourself time, frustration and $...

Did not work as advertised, recordings were worthless. Amazon's return policy prevented this purchase from being a complete waste of my time and money.
