I suspect most problems people have with rev drives are caused by Iomega's idiotic decision to pretend to be an optical device. This is obviously going to screw with cd/dvd burning software, and doesn't bode well for backup software that isn't best buddies with Iomega. Aside from this, it reads and writes just as good as any other removable hard disk device. For the exorbitant cost and miniscule space, there are better options.

I have the same problem as one of the other reviewers. The Vista system software downloaded from Iomega's site has crashed my computer every time I've tried it. I received the same run-around from online support and also phone support. What is your CD/DVD writing software? Do you have Roxio? Uninstall it. After uninstalling Roxio, the update actually loaded after rebooting without crashing my system, but it crashed later. I have a new Dell with Vista O/S--no special configurations. How can Iomega be so screwed up??

I attempted to store a backup from Vista Complete PC Backup & Restore on the REV drive and received the error message "Media is not UDF". Storing a Disaster Recovery Image is the reason I purchased the drive. The drive is excellent for straight copying of files, but is not good for use with third party software. I talked to a Tech. support Rep., and he gave me the usual run around, saying if files can be copied to it, the drive is fine. They said I should call Microsoft.
