The Aperion tower speakers sound great when used as part of a surround sound system. The Aperion tower speakers do not do so well as stereo speakers. They do not have a full sound and they are muddy when playing complex muscial passages. They sound OK when there is a piano or accoustic guitar, but are not good with reproducing the sound of a whole band playing.I think the problem is that do not have a midrange driver.The Aperion center speaker has all the same drivers as the tower speaker, plus a midrange driver. It has a much fuller sound. It is a clean, crisp sound and you can distinguish all of the instruments. Of course, since the center speaker is not a tower it does not have the full bass sound. It is because of the center speaker that the Aperion surround sound system sounds so good.
