I'll save you the time of looking for the perfect surround system for the money. Buy the Infinity Primus series speakers & add an Onkyo receiver, a touch of HDTV/surround & you are DONE! My system cost me about $3500, but man is it worth every cent. These speakers all have crystal-clear sound & wait 'till you hear the 300 Watt bass... WOW! ...hATCh "You can trust me, I'm an air traffic controller"...

You can't go wrong with a pair of these. Especially if they are placed in a fairly large room. Don't let others tell you that you NEED a sub for these speakers to sound good. Unless you're only listening to rap, these are great for a variety of different types of music. They also work great in my home theater w/out a subwoofer. I would recommend these speakers to anyone.

I added these to my Yamaha system, they are now my front 2 speakers replacing a pair of old cvegas. They are great at mids and highs but are expectedly weak at lows being only 2way, you will need a good powered sub if you want thumping bass. They do make the low sounds but with a weak sharp punch, good for hearing the lows but you don't feel it. They are extremely clear sounding, great if you both watch movies and listen to music with your system.
