I own a Samsung 50 inch DLP. It was beautiful until I hooked my XBox up to it and almost the day after the warrenty was up, it broke. After googleing the "shut-off" problem, I found out it is a common issue with ALL Samsung DLPs; which sometimes they can't fix!!! I have no extended warrenty and am screwed. Google samsung DLP problems before buying.

I have owned this TV since Oct of 2007 and I still enjoy it. The DLP has great color and the picture in HD looks amazing. The great thing about a DLP is that you don't have to worry about doing any proper "burn in". Just get this TV, plug it in and enjoy. The only con about the tv is that the built in speakers suck. I recommend buying a nice surround sound system and hook it up to the TV to get maximum enjoyment out of each and every movie.

Great TV. I've had this for several months now, and it produces a beautiful image, only slightly less "brilliant" than a LCD panel. The piano black finish is stunning, but does get smudged easily. I don't use the internal speakers or amp, so I can't attest to this unit's sound quality, but image quality is superb. The only complaint I have is that every time the input signal changes ever so slightly, the HDMI port switches to "searching for signal" for about 15 seconds. This gets annoying. I currently have it connected to a Denon 3808 via HDMI, and all my other equipment is connected to the Denon (i.e. the only cable going to the TV is a HDMI cable). Whenever I switch from the DTV to the HTPC (or to and fro any other component) the TV goes into "Searching for signal" for about 15 seconds. I'm learning to live with it, but it's annoying. Other than that, great TV. I had heard about a "darker band through the middle", but I haven't experienced that at all.

As a single mother, being able to afford such a luxurious item like this is a treat. I did my research, drove my friends nuts asking their opinion, then finally bought this awesome TV! I am so happy that I bought it! I wonder how we went so long watching a 36" TV. Thanks for the IRS stimulus check. We now enjoy this wonderful TV.

At first when this was delivered i thought that it was going to be way to big for my apartment. A problem that i didn't think i would ever have with a tv. lol. Really this t.v. is super nice. The picture is way better than my friens plasma. When you get within 3 feet or closer to the tv the picture looks a little fuzzy, but you shouldnt be sitting that close to a tv in the 1st place. I heard that the bulb dos'nt last as long as the LED powered tv's that you see listed, but this one is supposed to be brighter. I would buy this tv over a plasma or LCD any day. Save the money and buy this tv. Dont go to best buy, frys or any of those places. I think this is the best deal you could find.

When shopping for a new TV, I went in to several stores to stand back and pick the best picture out of dozens of units. I was drawn to the Samsung sets without exception. I'm so happy with my purchase and still believe Samsung has the best picture available at this time. We've been using our set for a few months, so I waited to write a review because of issues that others had after a short period of time. I guess we've been lucky because we had no technical issues. Also, I highly recommend Vann's due to low price (I was able to purchase a $150 universal remote for only $50 with the purchase of this unit) and good service. Vann's lowered the price of this set by $100 after I purchased, and I was credited for the difference in price. I'm intentionally leaving all the technical information out of my review because I think that has been covered elsewhere, and I want to empasize the fact that this set can be used by anyone who doesn't understand a lot of the technical terms anyway. Setup is quick, easy, and painless. We have used everything from a 10-year-old VCR to a Nintendo Wii with our new Samsung TV and are absolutely thrilled with the picture quality. I keep telling my husband that there are people in our living room! :) The picture quality in HD is truly that realistic. We watched the July 4th fireworks on three different channels (it was raining in our area that night) and now see no reason to leave the house next year because it can't get any better than what we saw on our set. Depth of the set was not an issue for us, and I'm glad we chose this unit. We have all of the accessories (HD receiver and DVD recorder from Comcast, DVD/VCR recorder, etc.) to store anyway, so no big deal. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a lot of bang for the buck and crystal clear picture quality.

Very good value for the money, have owned the product for about a month now, so far so good. Slight bowing on the upper portion of the screen, however i only notice the bowing when there is a straight edge on the screen to compare it to. During movies and games I can't even notice it. Just like the many others, I was hesitant to buy DLP, being newer technology. The image is very clear and sharp if you are sitting the appropriate distance away. DLP is the cheapest technology to go with based on the size.

I like the TV, but my unit came with blemishes (small dark smudges) on the screen. SAMSUNG does not provide a warranty for international customers who purchase from the USA !!! (I buy in USA & ship to Trinidad) I am an Amazon Prime customer & if I purchased from Amazon directly there may have been some redress. I bought this item through Amazon from OneCall due to a better price at the time. So, I have to live with the black spots on my screen...oh well, you live & you learn. My only other comment is that the audio quality should be better.

I watch alot of movies and had been using a DLP projector setup in My living room. The size of a DLP projector is hard to beat if setup properly but the downsides are ambiant light, pull down screens or blank walls. I finally decided to ditch the projector to move to a LCD/Plasma. I currently have a Samsung 37" LCD in my bedroom and love it. Well after pricing 50"+ LCD's and Plazmas i was in sticker shock. There where several 720p ones for "almost" resonable prices. But since i use it for gameing and computer also i prefered the 1080P (native 1920X1080) which jumped the price quite a bit. I had no interest in rear projection TV's from my past viewings of them. They still have a few limitations. Viewing angle, to high or to low, or to far to a side will make the picture dark or faded looking. Once placed on a 2 foot tall stand it works perfect for me and I have no problems with viewing angle. I was unsure of the picture quality (once again from my time with older projection sets) but this TV is excellent. I have a PC hooked up and the Picture and text is clear. I was concerned with contrast, but watching dark movies has been great, i see no loss of detail in shadows or dark spots. Game systems look great, no motion blur. Overall I'm 100% satisified with this TV and am glad i got the extra size.

Being the first time I purchased an item this big/expensive online, I was a little hesitant at first. However, given that this TV was 20 - 30% cheaper online than in the big box stores, I decided to give it a go. I placed the order online on Sunday, 1/20 and the TV arrived on Thursday, 1/24. Everything was in perfect condition and I had no problems with the tracking, delivery and setup of the TV. Now, onto the TV itself... I echo some of the same thoughts as previous posters. The sound on this TV is weak. The picture is awesome, I can't believe how good HD looks (this being my first HDTV). The only complaint I have about the picture is the silk-screen effect (SSE). So far, I am the only one of dozens of people I've had over to watch the TV that has been able to notice it. For the first few weeks, I found it somewhat distracting, but I've gotten used to it (had the TV for almost 3 months now). I still notice it now, but I find that once I get absorbed into the program I'm watching, that I don't really notice it. Overall, this is a good TV at a great price. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of the somewhat-annoying silk-screen effect.

Turned on TV and power and lamp button flash and nothing else happens. Service tech replaced lamp and still broke. Waiting for service company to fix it. I will not buy JVC again because this TV failed to work out of the box. Unable to return because original packing removed by deliverer and once it's open amazon's policy is it can not be returned.
