Although this little TV is a bit costly it is well worth it! I purchased it for the bedroom and the clarity and color are great. This little set delivers perfectly for a smaller room. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Everything I wanted - I have two 20" and one 32" of the same TV. I imagine if you were a real TV freak you could find imperfections, but they all work great for me. Worked perfectly (all three) out of the box. There is a start up delay and channel change delay, but that is apparently inherent in this type of TV (have seen the same thing in other brands. All are hooked up to sort of crappy community cable systems and the pictures are great - would imagine a hook up to a dedicated satellite would be outstanding.

This is the first (smaller) LCD set I've seen that has a good off-angle view when looking up (first of a new generation of smaller sets with upgraded LCD as found on bigger sets)! I once got burned by a Toshiba 23HLV87 (off-angle view when looking up was terrible) which I exchanged for a Toshiba 26LV47 (off-angle view is great up/down as well as from the sides). After my experience with the Toshibas, I found that many smaller LCD sets (`bout anything smaller than 26") that look good from the sides (and some looked good from above) have a terrible off-angle view when looking up. I've wanted to replace my kitchen TV (mounted high) with an LCD, and after a call to Sharp to verify this screen does indeed look good (when looking up), I ordered (the owner manual says the viewing angles are 170 degrees horizontally and VERTICALLY)! This is the first (smaller?) set I've seen with specs that specifically state off-angle viewing angles both horizontally AND vertically, so I assume this is the first generation of smaller sets with an updated LCD screen as found on most 26" and above sets. I have previous good experience with a well-used Sharp Aquos, so hopefully the quality/performance of this set is just as good. BTW...if you want to download an owner manual (not listed on Sharp USA site for this model), you can either e-mail Sharp USA customer service and they'll e-mail you one or you can visit Sharp Canada's site. Since Amazon doesn't seem to want to allow me to post an external link, just Google "LC20D42U manual" and the first hit should carry you to a page full of Sharp Canada manuals-they seem to have a much more extensive list of downloadable manuals than Sharp USA. PROS First set under 26" I've found that has good off-angle viewing when looking up! Built-in HDTV tuner: (I have Comcast, and can get about 10 over the air channels through my cable by bypassing the DVR). I have no cable box/DVR in the kitchen, so I should be able to receive channels 1 though 70+ as well as approximately 10 over the air HD channels (based on current experience/HDTVs). Picture quality: Comparable, if not better, than my Toshiba Regza and old Sharp Aquos. CONS No channel labeling!!! (my 26" Toshiba Regza does!) It's much nicer to label each channel rather than remembering what station 105.1 etc is! Base doesn't swivel (it does tilt) Sound is a bit on the weak side Remote not lighted Remote cannot control other devices! After living with this TV for a few days, I'm lowering my rating from 4 stars to 3 due to missing features available on my other sets (don't see any way to change the star rating at Amazon)! If not for size restrictions, I think I'd just get another Toshiba Regza (26LV47, or maybe the model without the built-in DVD player) instead of this Sharp. The 1 big thing the Toshiba has going for it is channel labeling! It's tough to remember channel 105.1 is ????-would be nice to be able to label each channel with station call letters!

BEWARE, the screen is made of glass and is very fragile! Mine arrived to me, in Miami, damaged and trying to get through to Amazon to find out the best way to return it proved to be most frustrating. I wish they would make communicating with them painless for their customers who have a problem. I did get a refund in the end. R. Foster Barbados West Indies

I hope to be able to come back and rate this TV but as of now I cannot even turn the TV on. The box does come with the stand but it doesn't come with the screws to attach it. So right now I have a nice large LCD screen laying down somewhere while Sharp sends me the screws. They could not expedite them (nor could they tell me the sizes of them so I could try to get some at the hardware store to use in the meantime) and told me if I can't wait 7-10 business days then they understand if I want to return the TV. Wow doesn't that just give me the warm fuzzies? She did however stress how they're sending me the screws for free. I guess I should be thankful! I will update this review when and if the screws come unless I get too fed up and return it. I hope if I keep it that I'm eventually happy with its performace. EDIT: We ended up wall mounting this TV rather than wait weeks for the screws. So far it looks wonderful and has a very nice picture. I would definitely upgrade the performance to 4 stars leaving off one for poor CS.

There have been some reviews that stated the Audio is poor. I do not agree and wonder if they realized the continued scroll down choices for enhanced audio selections. Another negative that I read was that some have stated the DVD player doesn't play certain discs. This too is not the case, the DVD player played +R +RW as well as -R and -RW discs. The remote is user friendly and offers all features needed. The only minor disappointment was there is no last channel viewed button. Granted there is a slight pause between channel up or down but that is due to the tuner having to switch from analog and digital stations. AS of February of 2009, re-program your stations to be all digital and the delay will improve. Lastly, the picture. This HDTV (with Over the Air reception) performed and looked great. The blacks are black and quality is superb. A great price, and good investment for that den, bedroom, office. This HDTV does not offer computer connection.

Just what I asked for - Received on time and in perfect shape. Thanks Msladyjae

it was very to set-up and now we receive about three times the amount of channels. watching shows in HD is so much nicer and watching letterboxed films on dvd looks fantastic. we managed to purchase this tv right when it was discontinued for half-off. it was a total bargain and we're very happy with it.

After a long search I had settled on the 40 inch 120hz LNT4069. Then I started reading about the improvements in the LN40A650 and the LN40A750 . . . offering 50,000:1 contrast ratio vs 20,000:1 for the 4069 and the newer, lower 4ms response time compared to the 8ms of last years model. But, I still wanted the 4069 because it offered a matte finish for the screen, and several reviewers wrote in complaining and regretting their 'glossy screen' purchase. (Besides, I hate the idea of the 'Touch of Color' feature marring the clean, austere look of the 4069.) However, after re-reading again and again my research materials, I am breaking down and going with the LN40A750. It finally comes down to being unable to ignore the future proofing the Connectivity and DLNA features provide. Can someone please explain why Samsung appears to have done away with matte finishes. All the new stuff they are putting out is glossy. I have a very bright apartment and I just know I'm going to be peeved every time I catch the reflections of my sun-drenched blinds on my screen. (I'm proud of myself for not ignoring all the latest improvements in the new line of Samsung's LCDs. There was a time not too long ago when I still would have purchased the matte screen LNT4069fx regardless of any improvements.) Estevelle / tvl72@comcast.net

I did a lot of research before buying this TV . . .consumer reports, reading blogs, going to various stores, "interviewing" friends. That is how I landed on a Samsung as a no brainer choice - the picture is amazing and the design is sleek. I am very happy with the TV. I read on a blog that there was concern about the volume the TV can go up to . . . I have noticed that the indeed TV doesn't seem to get as loud as I would expect (it is plenty loud for when you are sitting in front of it, I just like to turn the TV up sometimes and continue to listen to it while in the shower with the bathroom door open), however I have to admitt I have not tried to mess around with the volume on my cable box to see if that setup is the culprit. Overall, I have zero regrets of my purchase!

Received the Samsung 40" 4069 and have been enjoying it ever since. Easy to set up, great picture - depth, contrast, deep blacks, crisp. For the price really good value.

We have only had this tv for a week and already love it !! We have been looking around for a bigger and better tv for awhile now. This one has features unavailble on some other the other brands and was comparable in price.
