This stereo sounds absolutely amazing when listening to a CD, watching a DVD, or watching Cable. This thing gets so loud while still maintaining a clear sound. It wasn't too hard to hook up, but did take an hour or two. Most could probably assemble this faster because I don't know too much about audio equipment. All I know is that I love the way this product sounds and am extremely satisfied with it. I personally think it was worth every cent. If you are looking for something that is going to produce high quality sound, this is a great item for you. It does not include a DVD player, which I was glad to see because that means you are not paying for anything but the audio. I hope this review helped some people. I wish I had more knowledge of audio equipment so I could provide better information. If this seems like it is what you are looking for, it probably is. I can't see this stereo disappointing too many individuals.

This is a good system for the price compare to some systems. I would recommend this system to someone who does not want to spent alot of money on a home theater, but get a decent one at the same time. Set up is pretty self explanatory, but what's confusing is the remote setup. I'am still trying to set it up the way I like it. I see a improve everytime I change something, so read the manual throughly. Also get a HDMI cable. ( A MUST, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!!!) Ipod feature is cool. Makes the floor shake and the sound is very good. Rear speakers a little weak, but by making the appropriate adjustments, they sound good. Above all else, READ the manual so you get the most benefit from it.

The Good: The quality for the price. For around $400 it is a good system: 5.1 surround audio, good bass, wireless rear speakers, iPod docking station, FM/AM, Aux, digital optical audio input (Toslink), 5-disk CD/DVD changer, multi-format CD/DVD player, good highs/mid/lows in music, lots of options on configuring the system, good directions. The Bad: Only 1 HDMI output (no HDMI input!), non-universal remote (I hate using multiple remotes too, GRRR!), WEAK rear speakers, DVD upconverter sucks, waste of space with front speakers (only 50% of the tower is actual speaker). I was so happy to get this unit knowing all the options it had, especially wireless rear speakers. Not having the hassle of running wires was great, but those rear speakers are weak. I have the decible output to the rear speakers max'd out and it's still not where I'd like it. I WISH I could use the remote to operate the TV, or have another remote to operate this home theater system but no luck :( My only other gripe is the upconverter. I played around with it on a few movies and I noticed they looked better in 480p. In 1080p the movies have too much visual distortion/noise. I've been playing most of movies in 720p. I am very pleased with the amount of bass the unit puts out. The overall quality of music very good actually. The iPod docking station is a very nice feature. If this were a high end system I would be disappointed, but this was only $400, which is considered entry-level, and because of it I am very pleased.

i own a 67inch samsung tv. my family refers to it as our imax. so i decided it was time for us to get our first home theater system. i did a little reserch and landed on this one. it was a definite upgrade from the tv speakers. it made watching movies way more fun... BUT i'm pretty into sound, and i was a little dissapointed with the limited tweeking the system gives you esp with eq. i was also suprised that the systems volume limit isnt higher. they told me at the store it would get louder with better speaker wire. there is also limited inputs... so for these reasons i took it back. for me its worth spending potentiall another 500 to 1000 to get a more... but for the money if your on a budget, i think its a good system. especially if this is your first, or you havent had one. the bass is good and you get good sound. the rear wireless speakers is a plus to me. when you upgrade to better systems you lose that feature. so i liked it, but didn't love it.

hi everyone, first my setup is a panny 58inch plasma 720p from big buy store starts with a Costc...my bose acoustimass 16 series 2 is the second bose product i have owned. i orginally had the 5 deal but as you know the older subwoofer only had two woofers and this one has a total of 3 in the bass module. for the first one i replaced it with a infinity tss750 years ago when it first came out. when comparing the two then...the tss did have a clear sounding treble...like when the glass shattered in the matrix movies...you could hear that "KEEEE SSHSSHHHH" sound...the movie sounds were "brighter" sounding...however!!! the bose had a warm richer sound...not as "tinny" as some have described speakers to be...now look i am just an average techno geeky girl that loves a good hd-surround sound setup and back then it was with my long gone Sony KEFWE50 rear projection. with hard wood floors and your standard family room setup...it sounding great then...now in 2008. i have the onkyotx705 paired now with the 16 series 2...it sounds TREMENDOUS...yeah it is a more powerful reciever...but also i think that extra woofer gives it a bit more OOMPH... WHEN i scurry through different reviews, i get people reviewing based on of the 10 series or less...heck those are based off of not even the dual cube speakerrs...and the woofer module is like what one or two woofers??? i believer that if you get the best of the bunch...meaning the 16 series 2 that have the 3 woofers in the bass module and pair it with an outstanding av reciever it will ROCK...now for me...its all about movies...not so much music...and maybe crazy audiophiles have a problem with music...its possbile...but the craze now is movies...also...its important that when you hook it up and set your speaker size preferences in the av reicever...that you set it to...LARGE SPEAKERS..THATS RIGHT LARGE SPEAKERS..ITS IN THE MANUAL...i am not some audio crazed expert however...i know my components...and i have owned 3 different speakers now to know the differences...lets stay on point also...consumer reports stated that...dont let marketing dictate the quality of your speakers...all the fancy metal, choromium, diaphrams or whatever your speakers are made of doesnt guarantee the audio translated out to what you hear...let your ears decide...besides...your ears for the most part cant pickup such PERFECT VARIANCES BY MUCH anyway...for me it boiled down to brand quality, great sleek modern looks, and a comparative review of the sound i have come to learn and choose what i like...sorry i type fast and have not gone through this to edit for grammar..pick apart what you can for the review to benefit you...i am real...and the bose bashing i believe is not based on actual ownership of the actual model acoustimass 16 series 2 which has the 3 bass woofer speakers on the modual vs the older two...and thats even with the new systems that comes with the lifestyle units...you have to buy the speakers by themselves to get the new bass module...ok...ciao everyone

hi everyone, first my setup is a panny 58inch plasma 720p...my bose acoustimass 16 series 2 is the second bose product i have owned. My first introduction to Bose products with their Lifestyle system with just 5 speakers and the Acoustimass module that had 2 woofers...i forget the Lifestyle model number...this was back in 2000. Again, this setup only had 2 woofers. The new Acoustimass module found only in their flagship speaker setup (Acoustimass 16 Series II)has a total of 3 woofers downward firing. My second foray into home theatre "excitement" was switching to the Infinity TSS750, years ago, when it first came out. Now, when comparing the two...the TSS750 did have a clear sounding treble...like when the glass shattered in the matrix movies...you could hear that "KEEEEEESSHH" sound...the emphasize being more on the "eeee" rather than the "ssshhh". The movie sounds could be described as sounding "brighter". However, the Bose had a warm, richer sound...not as "tinny" as some have described speakers to be. Look, i am just an average techno girl that loves a good hd-surround sound setup. My very first interests in Home Theatre was when DVD first came out and Dolby Prologic II was the ticket. I had the Sony "Twin Tower" speakers that had the circuitry built into the towers. This was 1996 i remember. Today, I have the Onkyo TXSR705, now paired with the Bose Acoustimass 16 series 2...it sounds TREMENDOUS...yeah it is a more powerful reciever...but also i think that extra woofer gives it a bit more OOMPH... WHEN i scurry through different reviews, i read such negative points but many are reviews off of older systems. Lets have the merits of the Acoustimass 16 Series II be the product that we critque and not lump Bose surround sound speakers. I believe that if you get the best of the bunch...meaning the 16 series 2 that have the 3 woofers in the bass module and pair it with an outstanding av reciever it will ROCK...now for me...its all about movies...not so much music...and maybe crazy audiophiles have a problem with music...its possbile...but the craze now is movies...also...its important that when you hook it up and set your speaker size preferences in the av reicever...that you set it to...LARGE SPEAKERS..THATS RIGHT LARGE SPEAKERS..ITS IN THE MANUAL...i am not some audio crazed expert but I read up on the products I do own. I have owned 4 different speakers now to know the difference but let me try to stay on point also...Consumer Reports Magazine states that...dont let marketing dictate the quality of your speakers...all the fancy metal, choromium, diaphrams or whatever your speakers are made of doesnt guarantee the audio translated out to what you hear...let your ears decide. Besides technically your ears are very unlikely to pick up all the frequency variances marketing touts. For me it boiled down to brand quality, great sleek modern looks, and a comparative review of the sound i have come to learn. Forgive my grammar as best you can and pick apart what you can from the review to benefit you. I am a real product owner and the Bose bashing i believe is not based on actual ownership of the Acoustimass 16 Series 2 which has the 3 bass woofer speakers on the modual vs the older Bose products. You can only get the more powerful Bass module with the Acoustimass 16 Series II, which we are reviewing now. Ok...ciao everyone

BOSE is a marketing machine, plain and simple. You see them everywhere you look, on the television, on billboards, in magazines; they saturate you with advertisements. Being already familiar with BOSE I was at a friend's house last weekend who had the misfortune of having picked up an Acoustimass 16 in black. He had everything set-up and we listened to a few DVD's and a few tracks. Well the speakers were definitely being sent the discreet multi-channel mixes from the DVD's we listened to, but it sounded incredibly hollow with no resolve whatsoever in the high end and the bass, or lack thereof, sounded muddy and boomy. To illustrate this we listened to the first few second of "Down In It" from the debut Nine Inch Nails album, "Pretty Hate Machine". It's a good way to measure how good the bass enclosure is, because it has one solitary low bass bell note to start the song. Pausing the song showed how poor the design of the casing is inside. The note resounded in the cabinet for a whole second afterwards!! It was certainly not giving off low frequencies either, despite BOSE's assertion that this unit plays loud and clear to the deepest frequencies. Obvious BOSE is thinking of a different species' hearing limits when they refer to the deepest frequencies, because this unit doesn't even come close. The high frequency response of this unit falls off really quickly and made listening to CD sound like a low-quality 128 Kbps .mp3 file. If I had to rate this system on its CONS and PROS: PROS - very easy set-up with wiring, tiny satellite speakers CONS - sound, the bass is muddy and doesn't get low, the highs are nowhere to be seen. From the overall sound of these speakers I would have guessed I was listening to a $200 Home Theater in a Box solution. That BOSE charges over $1,000 for the sound I experienced is pretty criminal, but I guess that's what a good marketing department can do. For the $1,000+ that BOSE charges for these speakers you can find solutions that will more than outperform these speakers for under half the cost. Check out the 5.1 and 6.1 systems from Onkyo, JBL, Klipsch, etc., all for around $500 that will easily outperform the rubbish BOSE is pawning off on you.

The speakers arrived less than a week from purchasing on Amazon. They were easy to install work wonderfully. We watch cable and DVD through the Bose speakers, and they are more than adequate to fill the room with great sound. The living room (where the speakers are) is open to a sunroom on one side and the kitchen on the back. We often listen to one of the music stations on the digital cable, and the sound is great anywhere downstairs. Buy these speakers, and you won't have to get another set......ever!

I read alot of literature about Bose and all of their different home theater systems. I almost got the Lifestyle V20, but just went the other way at the last second. I wanted a little more options as far as sound settings. Anyway, these speakers sound great! Totally worth the money! The subwoofer (acoustimass) is BOOMING! You hear every detail that comes through your audio. Definately would buy this over any other speaker brand.

I have an Onkyo TSR605 receiver and I hooked up the Bose 10 speakers versus the Mirage Nanostat and the Mirage satellites are much, much clearer; also my old Onkyo woofer that came with my previous Onkyo Home Theater System produces much cleaner bass than the Bose (I started to get a headache with the Bose subwoofer because it was almost always booming when it shouldn't be and it was a muddled bass instead of a clean bass). I tested both with a movie (The Incredibles) and a concert DVD (Sarah Brightman). The Mirage Nanostat is about $500 without a woofer and the Bose 10 is $1000 but even if they were the same price, the Mirage is much clearer and won't give you a headache like Bose's subwoofer. For those who complain that the Mirage Nanostat center channel would be better if it pointed at you instead of the ceiling, I turned it so the speaker faced me to get a slightly louder sound but if this isn't good enough, I also hooked up the Bose center speaker and it acoustically matched the Mirage Nanostat speakers so you could always buy the Bose center speaker separately for $200. The Bose 10 speakers are going back to Best Buy tomorrow.

I love this system! I've had it for about 6 months now and the sound is fabulous. The bass is deep and will shake the walls, and the speakers will blast crystal clear sound even when you turn the volume up to full blast. I read a ton of reviews on different sites that have claimed Bose is just over-hyped junk, but I can honestly say that for this price range, this is a quality system. I currently have the system hooked up to a Sony receiver that puts out 110 watts per channel, and it can get L O U D! When watching concert videos and movies, you feel like you're there. Obviously, someone looking to design a room totally dedicated to home theater use would go with a larger, more professional setup, but for typical living room style home entertainment, this system will do the trick.

For the price this system can't be beat. The sound quality is great and the wireless rear speakers work as advertised. It does not interphere with my wireless internet contrary to previous reviews. I bought this system to match with my new Samsung HDTV and the Anynet feature makes using these devices with one remote easy. My standard DVD's do look sharper with the built in HD DVD converter. On a seperate note worth mentioning, I recieved my first home theater damaged. I called Amazon late Saturday afternoon and I had a new Home Theater by Wednesday. They sent me the return shippers in my Email and had a replacement on the way Monday Morning before I dropped the damaged one off. Very impressive product support and customer service!

Well I read a lot of reviews of the HT-Z515T, other Samsung models, the Panasonic and Sony models of similar specs. This is a really good sounding unit with some really silly flaws that make daily use bothersome. Still a great bargain and would recommend if you don't mind the flaws I list. Pros *Excellent sound, especially for this price range. I don't think there is a product with comparable sound without paying several hundred more. *Very good dvd/cd playback. It doeas have some difficulty with dirty or moderately scratched disks that my Sony 5 disk player had no trouble with, but this may be a function of the higher quality of the reader. *small footprint of speakers, player and wireless unit. *mostly good coordination with Samsung tv *Excellent combatibility with ipod Cons *1st problem is it is really difficult to compare the various models of Samsung ht's. *terible remote - no backlight, small buttons that are pourly laid out. *sometimes disconnects from Samsung tv when changing from dvd to cable input. *no hdmi input *does not display the track number in cd play (just stupid!!) *displays static samsung logo while playing cd's. No screen save in this mode.

I purchased this product off of eBay after doing plenty of research. What attracted me is the price, wireless module, 1080p upconversion and tall-boy speaker. The product arrived within a week of ordering it. Installation was fairly straightforward and simple (prepare to spend about 2-3 hours installing this giant system). First the negatives: * I was very disappointed to find out that you cannot adjust the equalizer when you hook this system to a DVR box. I watch majority of my shows on DVR and TV and needless to say I was disappointed that I cannot tweak equalizers in this mode. * For the size of the subwoofer I expected way more bass than what it is capable of. I had to tweak the setting to +4 dB (+6 dB is the max) to get decent bass. The bass works halfway decent only at higher volumes. * The LCD interface is a little short of pathetic. For a system worth $400+ Samsung could have put a little bit more effort into the interface. This is the deal...You have to have the TV on to maneuver between folders if you are playing MPs. This is a huge disadvantage if you compare other HTIB system. I have a 40 inch LCD TV which is illuminated with an expensive lamp that I don't intend to burn anytime soon. Samsung has not made the maneuvering any easier by having a complex interface that works ONLY in the DVD mode. So if you want to adjust the equalizer you can only do so in the DVD mode which required you turning on TV just to listen to MP3 songs. That for me sucks! * I am disappointed that the tallboy speakers, which look gorgeous, deliver mediocre performance. Or I am just expecting way too much for a system worth $400. * Inputs: The system has only 2 types of inputs; traditional and optical. I believe that is short of standards compared against other HTIBs. * Performance: At low sound levels, this system doesn't perform any better than my Panasonic TV with 2-10W speakers. Now the positives: * Once installed, this HTIB unit gives a hi-tech look to the living room. The tallboy speakers look gorgeous (but get a B- on performance) and the subwoofer unit looks like an alienware CPU. * The wireless units were a breeze to install and surprisingly, produce very impressive performance. I noticed no audible lags though I feel when I watch live TV, the wireless lags behind a little. It doesn't happen when I watch HD movies. The wireless receiver looks a little bulky for my taste but nevertheless looks like a piece out of Star Wars set. * Performance: The HT-TZ515 delivers outstanding performance at high volumes. I am yet to crank it up all the way and even at the level of 20-22, the performance is appreciable. I noticed no hums or other noises but that is because I use a high-end optical cable. I am yet to be impressed by the "upconversion" razzmatazz but that is because I believe blue-rays are the way to go! The upconverted DVDs look pretty decent when I play DIVX or DVD movies. * MP3 hookups: You can connect your MP3 player in a breeze and enjoy great sounds from this system. Summary: Overall, a mediocre system. I got this system for $300 which costs over $400 elsewhere. For the money I paid, I'm pretty satisfied with it. But if I had paid $400 I will be very disappointed with the performance of this unit. I read rave reviews about the Sony Bravia HTIB and would probably stick with Sony.
