About the only thing I didn't like about my 40-inch Sony LCD HDTV (KDL-V40XBR1) was the undistinguished sound of its built-in speakers. I solved the problem with this Onkyo power amp in combination with a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 40 2-way bookshelf speakers. The audio output of the TV is fed into the RCA-type audio input of the Onkyo amp. I set Onkyo's volume control (placed on the back of the unit) about a half-way point, and control TV's volume with the Sony TV remote. The resulting sound is much better than the low-fi sound from the TV's built-in sound system -- richer and better defined. The Onkyo amp just sits on a lower-level of the TV stand; I don't have to do anything with it. My black Onkyo unit is almost invisible. When I power up the TV, in a few unnoticeable seconds the Onkyo amp's IDLE mode changes to ON mode, and the sound comes out of the Polk speakers. When I turn the TV off, the amp returns to the idle mode. It's as though the Onkyo power amp were built into the TV. I don't detect any noticeable hum from it, and it does not generate excess heat, as some reviewers complained about. For my rather basic needs, this is an ideal solution. I am totally satisfied with this Onkyo power amp.

I have been using this amplifier for more than 3 years and it has always provided excellent results for me. The sound is clear, neutral and has plenty of power. I use it with a pair of Infinity Beta 20. It may sound a little expensive for an amplifier, but I believe it has excellent value.

I just used this amplifier for one day but I must say that it certainly fulfills the need. I needed a "new" amplifier that wouldn't break the bank. I am tired of buying used equipment to save a few bucks initially, only to pay for repairs soon after the purchase. This amplifier sounds good. It certainly is no giant killer, but it does sound better than any "classic" equipment that costs a couple of hundred dollars more. The sound is balanced. I was afraid the amp might be too bright, but no it was quiet flat. There is plenty of power with 100 watts per channel. I didn't notice any hum from the power supply. I am thinking that the people who experienced hum may be getting it from their AC lines. Hopefully, this amp will run for many years without problems. If so, I will consider this purchase a screaming deal.

I have set up a system of squeezeboxes with these units as the power amps. They are all located in my furnace room and with the squeeze WiFi remote control system it all works well. The ability to over ride input 2 by putting a signal on to input 1 is excellent. I have my PC set up as input one and squeeze as input 2. So I can play what ever I want from the squeeze box and then if I want to use my PC output I just put a signal on the line and it switches. It also switches back very smootly - not even a click. I was a little concerned after reading the reviews on this model and the smaller one. So I bought one first and experimented. I had some problems with first set up, as I had to get all the switches in the right places, but once I did it was excellent. The left right balance adjust is also very useful (not normally on power amps in my experience) - I have located the speakers for my Hot Tub for asthectics, so I needed some balanceing of the volumes from the two speakers.

Purchased this amp to power speakers in the kitchen, dining room and patio. Works great, has enough power, and the auto sensing power and second input are must have features.

I purchased this amplifier to power two 10" subwoofer cubes in my home entertainment system. Wow! What a difference this made versus driving these subs with my Onkyo A/V receiver. Night and day. The amp is connected to the Onkyo A/V receiver's subwoofer output RCA plug so it doesn't need a cross-over. This amplifier is a solid piece of electronics - it's heavy due to the large toriod used for the power supply. The overall finish and look of the amp is beautiful, and it runs cool. You won't do wrong with this quality amp, plus Amazon had the best price beating the local electronics retailer by $160.

I was looking for a specific solution for my outdoor speaker needs; I wanted to run my outdoor Yamaha speakers in mono mode as they were situated in different areas of the backyard and stereo would not have worked very well. After a bit of online research I came upon AudioSource Amps. At first glance the entry level 100 appeared rather basic but I didn't need an additional receiver or a powerhouse amp (it's just for background music) so it seemed to be the right solution. I read numerous other reviews that indicated I was on the right track. Amazon shipped quickly and I was self installing. The printed manual wasn't crystal clear - to me at least - and as I didn't want to blow my speakers due to miswiring I called in to the free support line. I was quickly connected to a live person (who wasn't located on the other side of the world) who confimed that I was wiring correctly for a mono application and the rest of it was easy. I'm very pleased with the 100; I only run it at 1/4 volume and that's plenty for outside listening. Any more and conversation would be difficult and the neighbors might start to get annoyed. It's turned out to be an affordable, simple solution for me.

My GF bought this amp as a present for me, and now she's very unhappy. We opened the shipping box, which was 5 times the size needed, removed the amp and hooked it up. We couldn't get it to do anything advertised! Nothing hooked up to it produced any sound. Only the green "ON" light and the red speaker lights worked. I called the 800 number for tech support at the mfgr. of this AudiolessSource Amp 100, and, after the normal recorded voice menu, when transferred, the phone just rang and rang. No support or customer service!! It went back today!!

The $100.00 dollar Audio Source Amp 100 took its place in my music room and was integrated into my $ 20,000 McIntosh system to provide some center channel sweetness by driving a pair of Focal SIB .5's. So far, it is performing in a most satisfactory manner and is doing exactly what I purchased it to do. I also use it alone with the Focals when recording albums and cassettes to CD, when I do not need to use my McIntosh amp and Phase Technology 10.5 Phase Coherent speakers. It does not run hot even when being pushed, and has shown no signs of clipping at moderately high volume levels. If it is hooked up correctly and manufacturer reccomendations are followed, I see no reason for problems some other reviewers encountered.
