The highest quality sound system will always come from using audio components that you collect yourself. However, for the many people who do not know enough about audio to choose the best parts, a system is a better option. The standard Stereo system comes with a player (CD, MP3, Minidisc, etc) and a set of speakers. They are often much smaller than the custom units, and can be quite effective in smaller areas. They also are quite a bit more affordable than custom units. If you are on a limited budget, and have a small space (like a apartment or dorm room) then you will probably find more luck with an stereo system. If you are looking for quality audio without the hassle then a system is the right choice for you. However, if you're looking for top of the line audio then you may want to consider collecting your own system.
