I really enjoyed my Garmin GPS for the estimated arrival times when driving to visit family etc. This GPS has TERRIBLE estimated arrival times. Sometimes estimating over 45 minutes longer than it should take for only a 2 hour drive. ANNOYING!!! Also tha packaging is a beast to open, and now if I return it to Amazon I will be charged a restocking fee! Buy from a place you can easily return it if you are not 100% certain you want this GPS. Also mapshare is only free for a year. And the maps are only upgraded for free for the first 30 days after purchase. Very misleading. I am disappointed and will be going back to Garmin.

The unit is wonderful, but having wasted so many hours trying to navigate their buggy website over the past year, I cannot recommend this company. Also, you'll NEVER speak to a real person.

I got the Tom Tom One 3rd addition two months ago after seeing it was recommended in Consumer Reports. I have used it on several small trips around the state and just recently returned from a 2000 mile trip to NY. It was invaluable on that trip because I was towing a trailer, much of the time in city traffic. It was really nice to have directions about which lane to be in and which way I was to turn with advance warning so I wasn't having to swerve across four lanes of traffic at the last minute. I paid about $140 and have really gotten my money's worth. I lent it to my Mom for a trip to Florida and she was thrilled with it as well. I would like to use a high-end model just to see if the $400-600 price would warrant the difference. In either case I think it would help anyone living in a new area, anyone doing sales or service calls, traveling for business, and those who just appreciate the added piece-of-mind when traveling and never being lost at an Exxon writing directions down on a napkin.
