Garmin language guide was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! It comes with zero installation instructions. Inserted the chip into a Nuvi 660 and nothing happened. Technical support email link does not work. Tried calling and the recording said there was a 32 minute wait. Not wanting to use up cell phone minutes, I hung up. Then I returned the product for a refund. Will revert to my Franklin Spanish/English translator. Although not a particularly sophisticated device, it does work!

Of what good is a translator when you can't understand the response; i.e the fact that the Nuvi translates your questions into a European language (in this case German) is of little use when the respondent answers in German. What's needed is a reverse translator that allows the native speaker to either select an appropriate response or type it in (assuming they have the patience to do so and do not misspell words). There are many interactive translators on the market but unfortunately, because of the memory required; they're all computer based. This is especially significant because languages like French and Especially German are often so grammatically different and because of that the English translations are often confusing.

Purchased the Language translator 2 weeks ago, installed it and it worked perfectly... integrated fine ($67.00). Purchased the POI for Europe (This product) last week. I expected the same level of integration and use, but found that a bit lacking. I have tried to use it about 4 or 5 times but became frustrated as it does not seem to "integrate" with the existing Garmin POI in the unit. To access the ($127.00) European POI, I think, but am not yet sure that you may have to go to a function or menu option for the POI, and search it manually based on the name of the business, restaurant or location. If this is the case, it is NOT recommended. If the POI are not placed ON the map in the device, and all you have is an alphabetical listing that you search AFTER you find a POI that you want data on ... well then this is definately not worth what I paid for it. I thought that the software (which loads automatically into the Garmin Nuvi when you insert the card and turn it on), would interface directly into the system. I thought that when you are displaying a European map, the additional POI, along with pertinant data on the POI woild automatically show up on the map in ADDITION to the existing POI that comes pre-installed with the map. As there are NO instructions on the card, or in the system for using the European POI, I am at a loss as to how it works until I have the time to spend with it understanding how it interfaces. This is not good, there is no intuitiveness built into this particular Garmin software, and it is confusing as to how it can cost so much, and yet seem to deliver so little.
