Don't buy cheap KVM extenders, you'll be glad you didn't. Everything Gefen produces is of high quality and tuned for actual A/V production work, instead of some weak picture that only a server admin could stand to look at all day.

This KVM extender may seem pricey, but it has some nice features that make it worth while. First allows a console monitor to be set up at transmitting end along with the normal monitor at the recieve end. Supports USB rather than PS/2, so you can use newer keyboards and mice. Also extends audio, which is important for any multimedia application. supports resolution up to 1920x1200 which is much higher than most KVM extenders. Note that despite the name, this unit only goes up to 330feet, not 1000 feet. FYI be careful of the units that do go 1000ft. They generally require two cat5 cables, not just one. Does not extend a microphone (althought you could use the one audio line for a microphone instead of speakers, I guess) Does not extend 9 pin control/com ports. Does not automatically sense line length (set with jumpers, but the process is easy).
