We ride horses in heavy/dense areas and down in gorges, etc. This antenna is attached to our riding helmet and we keep our GPS in our pocket. We have never lost the satellite signal during our rides and have always been able to pinpoint our location. It is a lifesaver for us since we often ride in areas that are un-mapped by anyone. It has never let us down. Just make sure you secure the extra, unused wire running from the antenna to the GPS bundled with tape so that it doesn't get crimped or twisted too many times. Due to the fragile wires inside, they have been known to get broken. I think if the manufacturer had used a heavier coating on the wires, this would not be a problem. I have been using my antenna for about 2 yrs now, and no problem with it. A friend of mine has been using his for about 4 yrs and no problems there either. Very good investment if you are doing hiking or riding in un-mapped or unknown areas.

I bought this remote because I installed a fixed mount on the center console of my Jeep. The Garmin 7200 is too big for the windshield area and I wanted to make sure I could get a good signal for the Garmin. Works excellent. I use the Garmin 7200 in my motor home and I do not need the remote antenna in that vehicle.

I mainly bought this so I could install my 2610 GPS in my dash. It works better than the internal antenna.
