I bought this 5 set unit at Sam's Club and we are very happy with its performance so far. The transmission range is impressive to say the least -- I was able to use the phone from my neighbors house from at least 500 feet away with no noise or interference, and that's with the base station is sitting right next to my computer. The intercom feature is really handy, and the answering machine portion works great as well. The "hands off" speakerphone has as good a quality as any I've used. The menu driven, back lit LCD screen on each phone is so easy to navigate that I have never needed to use the manual. I also like the fact that all of the handsets have access to the phone number directory. Of course, the fact that you only need access to a single phone wall jack, with of the other charging stations needing only an AC plug, is the main reason we purchased the system. Now we can have a phone anywhere we need one.Of course, as with any AC powered cordless phone, it makes sense to have some sort of "hard wired" phone as a backup if the power goes out.

We are very happy with this phones performance.Bought this phone at Sam's Club. We were concerned that the Vtech brand might be low quality, but not so. This phone has very good sound quality. The reception is excellent through out our home and even in our yard. Phone menus are easy to navigate and fairly straightforward. Base-station has a basic feature set but is very serviceable. Base does not have speaker phone, that would be a nice addition. Can't comment on digital answering system since we use Vonage's voice mail instead.Would highly recommend. Great five handset system for the price.
