Classic's CDR201 dual-disc CD recorder makes it easy to assemble mixed-music discs for fun or for friends and to archive your LPs and tapes to high-quality, long-lasting compact discs. (For LP transfers, you'll still need an integrated amplifier or surround receiver with a phono stage in it, however; you can't plug a turntable's unequalized/unamplified output directly into the CDR201 or any other component CD recorder.) If you're making a mixed CD, you can even the level from any source using the CDR201's analog audio inputs and record-level fader (in some cases you may have to decrease the level of loud songs if songs with quieter average levels still peak at the maximum recordable level). The unit doesn't have a sample-rate converter, as many CD recorders do--accepting non-standard sample frequencies like 32 and 48 kHz and converting them to CD-standard 44.1 kHz--but if you're not planning to import digital audio from voice recorders, DAT, or minidisc, this won't be an issue for you (and you can always come in analog through the stereo RCA inputs). For compliance with legislation relating to unauthorized copying of copyrighted material, Classic' CDR201 uses the Serial Copy Management System (SCMS), which lets you make first-generation digital copies from original, copyright-protected CDs, but prevents your making a digital copy of a digital copy. Connections consist of 1 each optical and coaxial digital-audio input (coaxial interconnect included), 1 coaxial digital-audio output, 1 set of stereo analog (left/right) RCA inputs, and 2 sets of stereo analog RCA outputs (1 each for the CD player deck and the CD recorder...
