just replaced my Cisco 2940, with this switch as I did not need the management capabilities and wanted the gigabit support. My intent is to RMA this item ASAP, not so much to do with anything but the sound level of the fan. The 2940 was not even noticable, the SR2016 must be at least 3dB or 6db louder. This is unacceptible given where the device needs to reside.

I bought this switch in June of 2008. On January 12, 12 of 16 ports died. Sent back to Linksys for replacement with lifetime warranty. Still on backorder. E-mails are never answered. Have called several times. What use is the warranty on a bad product if the manufacturer can't get a replacement. Avoid the Linksys switches.

8 out of 10 were dead within a year total garbage replaced them with Netgear JGS524 no problems yet
