I just received this ceiling plate last week and installed it over the weekend. It is very solid (cast aluminum, not iron) and mounted easily. I would have paid a few bucks more and rated it 5 stars if it came with mounting hardware (screws, anchors, etc), especially if they were also black. The 4 mounting holes are quite large and require using a couple of washers unless you're using humongous lag screws to mount it.

I bought this ceiling plate for 15 dollars and it is very solid and made of cast iron. This plate is considerably less expensive than the other ceiling plate by chief yet it does the same job. I hung my Sony vpl vw50 with this plate and had no problem. You will however need a steady hand as you drill the four holes for this mount.
