I'm not a sophisticated audioph00l, so I can't make any detailed, "subtle, but unassuming," type nebulosities about the bouquet of the sound quality. I will point out that it was a cinch to install it, and all of the features seem to work as advertised. The removable face removes, the CD player plays, the USB MP3 port works quite well (and it tells you what the song is in a sort of ticker display), the radio performs its tasks adequately, and the AUX cable can in fact be hooked up to an ipod shuffle. Be advised though, for the latter use, you will have to purchase an additional cable to hook up to the RCA jacks in the back, and presumably wire the adapter cable up through your car somewhere. I don't know why a car stereo has RCA jacks (which are two giant dongle-like banana plugs), but this one does. There are apparently other car stereos which provide a better connection (with recharging). The skip prevention seems to work well on the CD player when I bounce all over the place in my monster truck, but, oddly, it seems to freak out when the car shimmies a bit. It might be my imagination, or a dirty CD. A neat subtlety: it manages to keep your place on where you were the last time you played your CD, which is a really nice engineering touch, even if it is kind of useless. I haven't tried the XM radio hookups, as paying for radio waves is for sophisticated people who don't drive monster trucks. The idea of a remote in a car stereo is sort of new to me; I like it. Probably, if I read the manual I'd understand why the volume knob sometimes ceases to function, but it's a car radio: I don't want to have to read the manual except while installing the thing. It is also rather confusing switching between audio inputs. It would be nice if it were a little less LED heavy on the faceplate. It makes the cab look sort of like the inside of a cheesy eastern European discotheque. If you're dating an eastern European, maybe this will work for you.

I bought two of these, one for each of my children. It is reliable, you have a choice of how you want the alarm to work - radio, buzzer, or CD, and even which song on the CD you want to wake you up. The numbers are large, which help when you have sleepy eyes. It's been very dependable so far.

I puurchased two of these using pepsi points and could not be any happier. These were taken off the points offerings and I can see why. Pepsi had to ship thousands of these once the word got out the were the best items on the electronics list. If there has to be anything negative about this unit it would be that the internal antena is not real strong and therefor you are limited to certain number of stations. But the sound clarity and the dual alarm option is great. I would say it is worth the cash price and would buy one as a gift or for myself if I had to buy another clock radio.

First, it has an superb dimmer with three settings. I searched a long time to find a clock that didn't light up half my bedroom at night, and the lowest setting on this one is perfect (you can barely see it during the day but it's exactly the right contrast for at night). Add to that nice big numbers, dual alarms, wake to CD/buzzer/radio (by the way, it's SO much nice to wake to a CD than a loud buzz), and very intuitive controls. It's also pretty heavy and seems very well made, unlike other cheaper, lighter ones I've had in the past. If you live somewhere that loses power a lot, then you don't want this alarm clock (no battery backup), but if you have electricity most of the time, then this Sony is an excellent pick.

This is my second clock radio to purchase in this line. It beats all the others hands down. Great illuminated face and nice quality sound and easy to use.

I purchased this clock radio to use mainly as an alarm clock. I prefer to wake up to a CD rather than the buzzing of many alarm clocks and this works perfectly for that. You can set the alarms to use a CD, the radio, or the classic buzzing. There are also two separate alarms. I love the light settings on this radio as well. The snooze button doubles as the light adjustment bar. There is high, low, and then an off position. This activates a blue LED light that lights up all the buttons and works great as a night-light if you ever need on. When the light is in the off position, there is still backlighting for the clock itself, but it's not all that bright. Sound quality is the only negative I've found with this product. Lower end sounds are reproduced poorly by this radio. There is hardly any bass to it. Overall, the volume can get quite loud, but there is still very little bass. Considering I mainly use it as an alarm, this isn't too big of an issue. Overall, this is a great, well-built piece of equipment.

This is a great little clock radio. We have found the controls easy and the sound is good. The adjustable blue light that shines forth gives it a really nice high tech look. This was bought to replace a Sony Dream Machine that lasted for many years. Sony rarely disappoints.

Great receiver. I had a problem from water getting into my other one, but the Dual marine radio is perfect. Now no more worries about the top being down!

The first one only lasted a couple months. The second one, replaced under warranty lasted two months and failed to work the following summer after being stored indoors all winter. DO NOT RECOMMEND...TRASH! I now have a Marine system worth mentioning and it is not DUAL's junk!

I ordered this as a gift for my dad. It arrived in a timely manner, and the clock seems to be everything it was advertised to be. My dad is quite pleased with it. Everyone likes the blue lighting, and dad, who is very sensitive to light during the sleeping hours, has had no complaints of it being too bright. (The light is adjustable and is plenty dim when turned down, while still being able to see the time displayed.) The sound quality on the CD player/radio is good, too. Kind of makes me want one for myself, but my older Sony Dream Machine Clock-Radio is still working.

Very nice clock radio. I especially like the dual settings for wake up times and the nap setting. The clock allows choice of which media (AM, FM or CD) and volume to wake up to. Others have expressed concern about the clock being too bright at night but I find it OK for sleeping on the lowest illumination setting - and that is easy to change. It does have a lot of buttons and settings and the first few times I set the alarm time/station/volume I had to look up the instructions. Instruction book is clear and easy to use. On the whole, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

This clock radio was a gift for my wife who was pregnant so that she could listen to "hypno birthing" while in bed. We've always had luck with stylish Sony CD players. However, this time we had a few problems. Within 4 days of coming out of the box, its broken. Not only is there a couple lines missing from the display (a '3' looks like three parallel lines) but something is blown on one of the speakers. It sounds like the kind of distortion you get from putting too high of a pre-amp volume into a secondary amp. its all distorted. Unfortunately, since it was a gift, the box got thrown out. Now we're unable to return it. If it were 100% working when it arrived, it would still leave something to be desired, since clock radios sound like .. clock radios. I'd love to have some external speaker ports where I can plug in my much larger extra speakers and get a nice sound.

I use my CD players to listen to audio books when I go to bed. I am loving the remote control -- really easy to use. I would not be happy, however, if it only had the touch screen. I have gone through several CD players and so far this is the best (have been using for 10 days).

Unfortunately I didn't keep the wrapping or this player would have been returned. It never worked properly and makes me very wary of buying electronic over the net. I certainly have learned to keep the wrapping for a long time. buyer beware. don't buy this item. even if it did work it's not easy to use. I think it's a factory defect. I would give it no stars if that were possible.
