This is an excellent radio for anyone interested. I have used every function, including the PA, and it performs marvelously. The "night watch" feature is very handy, basically the entire face glows and has an adjustable intensity. I have used a few uniden's and a few other cobra CB's and this is my favorite so far.

Matched this with a "Little Wil" Wilson antenna. Low SWR across all channels with minimal calibration. Radio comes with a built-in SWR meter. A little bulky, but lots of controls to customize the radio for urban or rural areas. The backlighting is great for driving at night. I bought a cigarette lighter DC cord as well, since I move the radio between cars. The radio comes with a hard-wire kit. Speaker is loud enough, and reception/range appear to be very good. Not a sideband radio. Good classic CB with just enough controls for the low to mid-level user.

My fiance is a truck driver and he loves this CB. I got it for a Christmas present and he could barely wait to install it. I'm very pleased.

Years ago I had two similar radios - also made by COBRA. They performed flawlessly for the 7 years I owned them. I used one in my car and the other at home as a base station. So far this radio performs as well, if not better, than the others. We're using this one in our RV as a back up to our cell phones. I'll do a follow-up down the road when we've had a little more talk time.

Had the radio for a few weeks before I had a chance to make some SSB contacts and all reported distorted audio. The receive audio sounded good, just the transmit audio has the problem. AM mode works great, with excellent reports. The swr on the antenna was 1.2:1 so there was no problem with the antenna. Since the AM sounded excellent I would not think the problem was with the mic. The internal speaker had some rattle to it so I hooked up an external speaker. The ANL and NB were excellent in my mobile setup. I did a google search and found another report of the same problem.

I am very pleased with this CB. In my opinion it is better than others I have had that were much more expensive.

This product seems to be built well and Uniden is a good brand in CB radio. Pros: * Included ergonomic mic is noise-canceling (cuts out your radio, wind noise, etc.) * Weather bands are nice and work anywhere * Wire this straight to your battery and it is nearly static-free on the highway. Very clean receive on this unit. * PA output is louder than other radios I've tried * Antenna warning light should keep you from keying up and frying your radio if your antenna system has failed Cons: * Have not found anything major yet Notes: * DSC is only good for very close transmissions. Leave it off if you wish to hear signals past 1/2 mile * Delta Tune doesn't really do much so don't waste your time trying to adjust it * This unit is basically the same as the Cobra 29 on the inside

Received my order in good time and have installed it in/on my 2006 Jeep. I mounted it on the rear of the center console. The only thing I am going to do to secure it better is make an additional bracket that will cover the existing mounting bolt/screws so it can't be removed or stolen as easy if just left the way it was installed by the instructions. It seems to work just fine. It was well worth the $100 I paid for it. Kenneth

I don't know much about CB's but purchased this one and it works great. It has all the stuff people said you would need like RF Gain. It installs in a flash, just hook up the antenna which I purchased the Cobra HG A2000 High Gear CB Antenna, you will need to buy the antenna it doesn't come with one. Also since it may be installed via a cigarette plug in it may pick up a little engine noise which is a small squeal and hardly noticeable. The unit doesn't come with the cigarette power adapter either but if you go to Radio Shack you can get this plug having screw nuts on the back where you attach the power wires and just plug it in. I guess this means it was meant for a hard wire install but that is not what I wanted. It works very nice and has many benefits while traveling.

The Cobra HH Road Trip was perfect for our use. We specifically purchased it for a road trip with our Corvette Club. Even though the magnetic antenna didn't adhere to the fiberglass body of the car, the standard antenna worked well as long the range was relatively small. Our nineteen car "convoy" stayed in contact and the reception was clear. The hand held unit was easy to use and didn't eat the batteries.

This is a great handheld for short distance use. It works well in convoys or groups when used with the base antenna. I would not recommend it trying to transmit over a long distance. Excellent emergency unit.

I got stuck on the freeway, for seven hours, one winter. If I had had this CB I would have known to get off and take a side road and not get stuck with all the rest of the traffic. Takes 9 AA batteries. Good price.

I am dissapointed in this product. It doesn't work well inside the car with the standard antenia. I purchased the outside antenia and still have problems receiving and sending.

When I was young, I had a base CB and a regular rooftop mounted antenna for the automobile CB. Now that I'm older and travel extensively sometimes, I decided to get this model for simplicity. I can listen to the chatter while driving or get updated storm info. on the weather channels. Sure, a rooftop mounted antenna will greatly increase your ranges on both the transmissions and receiving ends but now you're talking wires and a greater possibility of theft, too bad about the thieves though. Again, this model is just fine if you just want to listen, but it is not designed to be like a regular mobile unit. I even turn it on occasionally in my apartment to listen to emergency chn. 9 plus the other channels. Having that emergency (9) chn. can be advantageous down the road, even if you have to stop and get out of vehicle. Overall, it's worth the price...

Overall, a good product, but needs a rechargeable battery pack and needs to be able to pick up and transmit at further distances. This product didn't even transmit or pick up transmission more than a quarter of a mile away.

The radio is good for the $$ but i wish i paid $30 less for it! there is no RF gain which would make this a sweet deal, i pick up farther than i can transmit but cannot block out what i want to hear, if only i could turn down the RF! PA option would have been nice also. weather band is sweet! I installed it in the dash below my regular radio which is a bonus. sound tracker works decent as well as the dual watch but the scan feature is sketchy since there is no RF gain control! the knobs feel loose and chintzy feels like a G.I. Joe walkie talkie! i like the radio it will stay installed in the truck but i already ordered a sweet Connex 4600 Turbo SuperWhackedPacked for when i need to stomp the mud ducks! =op

I've had this CB for 10 months now. The main reasons I bought it for are the compact size and multi-scan features, which work well. However two real big gripes about this radio are no RF gain control and it's "super shiny light reflecting" black tinted face which makes it extremely difficult to read what channel you're on in daylight. I often have to have the squelch set so high to block static (from everywhere), that I don't get reception anyway. It also makes a little static "tick" noise as it does it two channel priority watch scan, which I find very annoying. In fact, I no longer turn the radio on when I'm in the vehicle. I would not buy this model radio again and am planning to replace it.

I have three CB radios: Honda JC-216H for my motorcycle ($600.- and it's the reason that I start with CB), Midland 75-822 ($85), and this Cobra 18 WX ST II ($64). My ratings to these three CB are: Cobra 1 star, Midland and Honda 5 stars. The 18WX is very bad compare with 75-822 about noise filtering. I installed them two in the same SUV with identical antennas (Cobra HGA-1500), the 18WX picks noise from every thing: engine, fuel pump, folding motor of mirror, air conditioner, horn and even horn of those cars beside you. The 75-822 just pick nothing but a little the folding motor. It's totally terrible when you use it while driving.
