We bought this largely on the strength of the many positive reviews here on Amazon. I apparently missed the few that mentioned the problem we discovered after it arrived. If, like us, you are among the many folks getting an iPod Touch with a new laptop as part of Apple's annual summer promotion, please be aware that this unit from Boston Acoustics is NOT COMPATIBLE with the iPod Touch 2nd Gen. The iPod Touch 2nd Generation is the current model at the time I'm writing this. Any new iPod Touch purchased after early September 2008 is 2nd Generation. It also seems to be incompatible with the iPhone 3G (any iPhone bought after mid-July 2008), but I can't verify this from personal experience. I would tend to trust these reports however, based on the similarity in the iPhone and iPod Touch hardware. It would appear that there is some technical challenge introduced with these newer devices that Boston Acoustics has been unable to meet, even though they have had over a year to do so. I was unable to find any mention of this in their literature. This system does sound good in other modes. We bought it also for the iPod functionality. So, even though all the promotional pictures of this unit (including those on the BA website) feature an iPod Touch sitting in the dock, and might lead you believe otherwise, if that were a current model Touch it would **not** work.

First of all, I bought this product on accident, misinterpreting the model # to mean it was an HD radio. I had looked at a lot of products that day and it came up in a search for HD radios. So, when I got it I was disappointed that it WAS NOT an HD radio at all. I thought about sending it back but decided to use it as a kitchen/shelf radio instead. So far it's been good. It's nice looking and the sound quality is impressive. I use it for 50% radio listening and 50% iPod listening. The controls are simple, intuitive, and have a high quality feel. The remote is nice to have, it is magnetized which is nice in the kitchen. I leave it on the other side of the room, stuck to the SS microwave. It's infrared though, which means you have to really point it right at the radio to get it to work - a little tedious. It's a really cheap, membrane switch remote too, which is too bad considering the high quality look and feel of the radio itself. I would recommend this product to someone looking for high-quality sound and appearance in a small package, willing to pay a little extra.

I looked at alot of different models, and this BA model is a perfect integration of very good sound, solid construction, modern appearance, easy ipod set up, and reasonable price. I am very happy with this purchase. If you want an ipod dock with great sound and terrific radio this is a great choice.
