This hub is reasonably compact and the hide-away plug with a short (about 2 inch) cable is perfect for traveling. It also solves a common nuisance with laptops. The two USB plugs on my MacBook are about 0.05 inch too close together, so a plug placed in one port often forces me to slip the other in slightly askew. The second plug still works, but it isn't something I like to do often. This hub gives gives you four ports widely enough spaced, that shouldn't be a problem.Instead of a barely adequate two USB ports, a MacBook now has five. It also has a full-featured set of indicator lights: Main Power LED Off Not Operational Red Operational Port-Status LED (one for each port) Off Not Operational Amber Error Condition Green Fully Operational Blinking Off/Green Software Attention Blinking Off/Amber Hardware Attention As is typical of Belkin products, it's sensible designed and reasonably priced.
