after 9 months of use, I'm very pleased with this hub. no problems whatsoever. using it with a notebook, the cable holder is handy for clipping cables to when disconnecting them from the computer: it keeps them from falling behind the desk. the hub stays put nicely on my desk, and I can use the two top ports for connecting occasionally used devices without having to pick the hub up or try to move permanently attached cables.

This Belkin 7 port hub set up OK and worked fine; then 2 days ago, after 6 mos of light use (I use my laptop at three locations, including the home office where this was), it did not work! The printers and mouse attached to it stopped functioning; I tried the printers and mouse by plugging them into the laptop directly and they worked fine; now using another travel hub, not meant for desk use (Targus) and it's fine. Belkin products stinK! I would not buy again.

I've owned many USB hubs before, and this is by far the best. The unit itself is weighted unlike most hubs, and won't slip off the edge of your desk. The cable guide on one side is nice too - try feeding a USB cable (for your camera, phone, etc) through it. No more cables disappearing off your desk when they're not connected! There are 2 USB ports on the top of the unit, which is a nice touch even though I don't use many memory sticks. Construction quality is excellent: no unbearably bright LEDs blinking all the time, the plastic and rubber moldings fit well. Overall the product feels properly made, unlike the $10 cheap hubs that look like they will fall apart any second. My only complaint is the AC adapter used - it points in an awkward direction that may block nearby sockets if used on a power bar.
