My experience with this Archos product was anything but positive. First of all, after receiving my device and paying nearly $450...I transfered all of the movies from my iPhone to this, thinking how much nicer it will be to watch on a 7" screen. Wrong! I couldn't play my movies ...in order to play the mp4 format I had to purchase a codec from Archos for an additional $20. Are you kidding me? A $450 media player and this company is going to nickle-and-dime me for codecs?... strike one. Strikes two and three come together because after only about 60 days the touch screen has become totally unusable. By some miracle, I was even able to install a software update, however every time I power on the deivice I have about a 1 in 100 chance of it actually working so I can navigate the menu. $450 + $20 codec ...completely wasted. This product, and the company that makes it, is garbage.

This is relevant to Archos more than the 7 specifically, but, as mentioned by other reviewers, Archos is a terrible company to deal with. I owned 2 605s and spent hours on the phone dealing with customer service never to get anywhere. I swore I would never deal with these people ever again after i returned my second unit to amazon.Buyer Beware, I gave them two stars because they offer high capacity, sexy devices, which in theory is great, but ultimately they do not deliver a positive experience. If you do purchase from them, I hope you get a perfect unit, because you are on your own otherwise.

Web/TV Product code does not work so unable to download, complained to Archos and told-have to pay again. "Once code is used cannot replace it, and as it didn't work-tough!" Spent over three months trying without success to get the DVR Station to work. Unable to record from TV, although the system goes through the motions when you try to open the recorded file to view, you receive an error message stating "damaged and incomplete file". Had daily contact with technical support but still no joy. When playing a video via the internet sometimes you get a blank space with a Flash 9 jpg. The Archos 7/Opera is supposed to support Flash 9-but it doesn't work on many Flash 9 websites so beware. My advice to any would be purchaser is don't buy an Archos unless you a) Want a heart attack from the frustration or b) Like throwing over ??300 down the drain. Archos products are certainly not worth the money. An expensive piece of junk. I am really disappointed that I had to award it even one star. It really gets no stars from me. A lovely looking piece of equipment that certainly just doesn't deliver. DO NOT BUY. I will NEVER buy another Archos product AGAIN-they are rubbish. Don't you our you'll end up wasting money and tearing your hair out with frustration. You have BEEN warned.
