The VGA connector is NOT male but female. So I could not use this cable to directly connect my video card DVI output to my monitor vga input and still have to use a clunky 2 part contraption. :-(

I have one PCI card in my computer and I was going to buy a second card so I can use two screens at once. I learned to use two screens using my laptop and the VGA connector to an LCD screen and got hooked on how much more productive I became. No switching to check info on a web page to add to an excel sheet, I simply put the excel sheet on one screen and the web page on another and I can transfer data easily. Well, I wanted to do that on my desktop but I only had one graphic card. So, when I went to look for another graphic card, the price was much higher than I expected and I was told that I may experience conflict. That is when a friend told me to just use the DVI connector on my current graphic card as the second connector and I would avoid any conflict. The problem is that neither LCD monitors had DVI connections. That is when I came here to Amazon and found exactly what I needed. I bought the cable, it arrived quickly, and I installed it with only a minor problem. The plugs DVI male has difficulties fitting into the female DVI of the graphic card making the connection slightly loose. Also, the plug is a little short at two meters making it difficult because I keep the desktop on the floor and my table is 54 inches wide. I will need to buy an extension to make this work better. But I have my two screens and love it.
