The product description states that this enclosure supports 750gb drives. However, the box states that it only goes up to 500gb. I now have a useless enclosure.

I had a SATA drive that I decided to use as an external backup solution. I was very pleased to find that these enclosures were reasonably cheap, and went ahead and purchased this one. Very easy to set up and use, though the drive itself makes a fair amount of noise that the enclosure doesn't dampen much. If you're going to use this all the time you might want to look for something with more noise dampening.

One of our PC'c died of an apparent power supply failure. Smelling bad, but still the HD was till running. It was a 3.5" SATA device so rather than risking running the old machine anymore I bought this Aluratek device. Removing the HD was easy as was installing it in the Aluratek enclosure. After I set up the new PC I just plugged in the Aluratek into a USB port and found all the data I needed for transfer to the new machine. Once I am satisfied that the new machine is working properly I will reformat the Aluratek for use as a backup. The resulting drive is not really suited for "portable use". It is probably too big and may not be as hardened as it needs to be for portable use. Still, it was the perfect solution for salvaging my data and well worth the price.
