I think that's the main thing: it just works. Like others have said, it is surprising that it cost so much, but the simple one piece construction means it probably won't ever break, and its solid. The curves are nice to create some passive air flow, and the height, which is about 5 inches (a bit under), is great to get your laptop eye level, and perfect next to a second monitor if you do that sort of thing. Also, I like not having a cover over the keyboard like some stands do, since sometimes I need to use the keyboard versus my USB keyboard. Overall: simple, solid, does the job. Cons: wish it had a USB hub, but then again, would defeat the sleek look, and for not much a simply belkin hub can fit underneath and keep your wires organized.

I researched notebook stands for MONTHS before finally purchasing one. I use an external monitor and keyboard with my laptop, so actually typing on the notebook keyboard is not important. I was chiefly concerned with providing a sturdy base for the laptop, something that would raise the monitor up to eye height, and something that would allow the laptop fans to operate normally. This stand achieves all of those goals. It's simple, sturdy, and effective. Only thing to consider is if you plan to use the headphone jacks at the front of your laptop (if you have any there), you won't be able to access them with the laptop in this stand. Also, the stand of course is non adjustable, but I don't see this as a problem at all. The adjustability in the laptop monitor itself takes care of any needed adjustments.

Since I use my early 2008 MacBook Pro as a desktop replacement, it was in my best interest to get some sort of a stand for my laptop if I didn't want to strain my neck/back. So I decided to go with Logitech Alto Express, as it looked neat and it was inexpensive, too. Unfortunately, when I placed my MBP on the stand I pushed the lid all the way back (well, as much as I could - I didn't want to risk breaking it), yet it still wasn't enough - the screen wasn't perpendicular to my desk, which made the viewing experience unpleasant. I had to raise the front part of the stand for about 1.6 inch, till the viewing angle was right. I'm sure this stand might work perfectly with some other laptops (where the lid can be pushed further backwards), but it was a failure for me and my MBP. It could work with books underneath the front part of it, but then again, what's the point in doing that? In short, I regret to say that I cannot recommend this stand. I returned it just today and decided to invest more money and get a mStand instead.
