I bought this cheap headset because it was supposedly compatible with Mac and the language software made by Rosetta Stone. First of all, the headset is cheaply made so if you are planning to use it for anything other than Rosetta Stone, I hope you enjoy lousy sound quality. The ear pads are too small as well so the headset never felt "secure" to me. I get really sick of things saying they are Mac compatible when they are not. Mac users have had repeated problems with getting this headset to work, despite the BS "troubleshooting sheet" available on Rosetta Stone's website. When you hook these up to your computer, you will be able to HEAR the sound. The microphone, however, will not work with Mac because of a power issue apparently that regardless of what Rosetta Stone or Cyber Acoustics says, is NOT going to give you sound out through the microphone. Just out of curiosity (and because I do want to use my Rosetta Stone speaking practice), I decided to go to Best Buy and see what could be found for Mac users. The Plantronics Audio 995 Wireless Stereo Headset for gaming works BEAUTIFULLY. Better yet - it is wireless, comfortable to wear, and has great sound quality. You can buy it on Amazon right now for about $50. Cyber Acoustics is a waste of money - put up the extra $20 and get the Plantronics.

I needed a headset that worked well for my students when using MiniMacs. These work out just great!

Despite the reasonable price for these, the old saying "you get what you pay for" definitely applies. I bought two of these for my girlfriend and myself to use for our online gaming (Ventrilo and Teamspeak). The inbound sound is ok, but I have had nothing but bad feedback from the people on the other end, saying they either can't hear us or that there is a buzz. I've already replaced one set and am going to replace the other very soon. Then these will be going in the garbage.
